yes, because self defense isint the court system asking you to drop all weapons, render yourself completely defenseless, allow them to put you in a box that you cannot escape from without external assistance, and then put your faith into them not killing you

So in that instance life matters less

if the death sentence is so slow in the example of the death sentence you argued you were fine with because you were consitering both extreme cases as well as giving them lots of time to defend themselves in court then they have plenty of time to be broken out of jail

if they do get into jail and they get out, bribery is a huge part of it

honestly the death penalty just isint effective for what you want it to do
