There could be some sort of planetary defense unit or division or whatever which should be allowed to have nuclear weapons, such as for example to destroy an asteroid headed for the planet or our moon, or an invading force from some other star system (if such a thing were to be real).
Nukes wouldn't do shit to those
I have multiple firearms, and have never had to have any kind of license for them. I have had to have a hunting license, but not a license to own or bear a firearm. I do live in a state with open carry oh, by the way.
Unless being used to push them off track
Altering the course of an asteroid so that it plows into the sun would be sufficient, would you not agree?
Oh, never had to a background check or register those weapons too theb.?
Home built?
I've only had a background check for one firearm purchase, the most recent. I do not have to register any of them and have never had to do so. Remember, I am a Texas girl.
Interesting. Why the one?
Because it's the only one I've bought after those laws went into effect. I bought it to honor Roger Moore after he passed away. It is a Walther PPK/S. I have wanted one for a long time, and after his passing, I decided it was time for me to buy one. It is now my preferred weapon. I keep it beside me at all times when I am at home, I can carry it in my vehicle, I can wear it in a holster which is not concealed. If I wanted to carry it concealed, I would have to get a license for that, which means training, the license only being granted after I have had training and passed the course. This would be an easy course for me to pass.
The Walther PPK and PPK/S are "automatic" (semiautomatic) pistols. They can be fired in such a way as to fire each time you pull the trigger. You can also use them as single shot by cocking the hammer before pulling the trigger.
The magazine holds 10 Rounds, and another can be in the chamber. 11 rounds are enough to stop a would-be assailant, and probably two or three.
I am a pretty good shot.
And I can shoot from the hip as well as by taking aim.
For the record, I do think the solution, or part of it, to most of the firearms bullshit these days is to have basic firearms safety and knowledge rammed into people's heads by their parents from an early age. I just don't see it happening on enough scale to make the "black guns are scary" people a small enough group to not be a problem anymore.
Also within easy reach most of the time when I'm sitting here in this spot is another pistol (which is a revolver), and a rifle.
I keep them all loaded.
But let's view things from a different angle, and maybe tweak the idea from the article I posted earlier: would you like the idea of some federal license you could apply for that would allow you to take those weapons to any state without the states local laws being able to tell you no? Or be able to pick up a friends weapon without being arrested for having a gun not registered to you and not owning the like 5 things or whatever stupid number of hoops some states have put up?
As for "assault weapons," education would eliminate some of that. You are probably aware that, during the assault weapons ban, it was perfectly legal for a person to go and buy a rifle identical in every ***meaningful*** way to an AR-15. The only difference was appearance. The AR-15 ***looks*** scary to civilians and those who have never had any military experience or training.
All of my weapons are not registered to me or anyone else.
As for a license, if I have to pay for a license, then it's no longer a right, but a privilege. So no, I have no desire for such a license, nor do I believe it should be necessary. In fact, I would go so far as to say that such a requirement would be a violation of the Second Amendment and therefore unconstitutional.
exactly, that would be exactly the same has having a license to speak to comply with the first amendment
Also
none of this matters
I didn't say you would be required to get it just to stay legal in your state
I said allow you to buy pass the existing laws in other states.
people that commit crimes with guns will do so because they're already breaking the law. They wont have a license, they still will have a gun, and they still will commit crimes
must I point out crime in NY vs London this year
Because cry unconditional all you want, you'll still end up in jail if caught as it is.
Depending on the state
Only Hawaii and the District of Columbia require the registration of all firearms.
The state of New York requires the registration of handguns.
People who will commit crime already do NOT follow law.. why make more laws they wont follow just to make it hard on the rest of the law abiding public
Like I said, I don't believe in all or nothing. Not only does it not make you any better that the other side, being unwilling to compromise, it also doesn't get you any closer to your goal unless you get an overwhelming majority.
California and Maryland require new residents to report their firearms.
The "other side"'s goal is complete disarmament of the populace
no thanks
they get nothing
Good for you. You get no where.
I don't need to get anywhere
