For the record, I do think the solution, or part of it, to most of the firearms bullshit these days is to have basic firearms safety and knowledge rammed into people's heads by their parents from an early age. I just don't see it happening on enough scale to make the "black guns are scary" people a small enough group to not be a problem anymore.

2018-04-29 18:50:40 UTC

Also within easy reach most of the time when I'm sitting here in this spot is another pistol (which is a revolver), and a rifle.

2018-04-29 18:51:29 UTC

I keep them all loaded.

2018-04-29 18:54:09 UTC

But let's view things from a different angle, and maybe tweak the idea from the article I posted earlier: would you like the idea of some federal license you could apply for that would allow you to take those weapons to any state without the states local laws being able to tell you no? Or be able to pick up a friends weapon without being arrested for having a gun not registered to you and not owning the like 5 things or whatever stupid number of hoops some states have put up?

2018-04-29 18:54:14 UTC

As for "assault weapons," education would eliminate some of that. You are probably aware that, during the assault weapons ban, it was perfectly legal for a person to go and buy a rifle identical in every ***meaningful*** way to an AR-15. The only difference was appearance. The AR-15 ***looks*** scary to civilians and those who have never had any military experience or training.

2018-04-29 18:54:48 UTC

All of my weapons are not registered to me or anyone else.

2018-04-29 18:55:10 UTC

What states require registration?

2018-04-29 18:56:08 UTC

As for a license, if I have to pay for a license, then it's no longer a right, but a privilege. So no, I have no desire for such a license, nor do I believe it should be necessary. In fact, I would go so far as to say that such a requirement would be a violation of the Second Amendment and therefore unconstitutional.

2018-04-29 18:57:04 UTC

exactly, that would be exactly the same has having a license to speak to comply with the first amendment

2018-04-29 18:57:26 UTC

Also

2018-04-29 18:57:28 UTC

none of this matters

2018-04-29 18:57:31 UTC

I didn't say you would be required to get it just to stay legal in your state

2018-04-29 18:57:44 UTC

I said allow you to buy pass the existing laws in other states.

2018-04-29 18:57:57 UTC

people that commit crimes with guns will do so because they're already breaking the law. They wont have a license, they still will have a gun, and they still will commit crimes

2018-04-29 18:58:07 UTC

must I point out crime in NY vs London this year

2018-04-29 18:58:10 UTC

Because cry unconditional all you want, you'll still end up in jail if caught as it is.

2018-04-29 18:58:27 UTC

Depending on the state

2018-04-29 18:58:49 UTC

Only Hawaii and the District of Columbia require the registration of all firearms.

2018-04-29 18:59:11 UTC

The state of New York requires the registration of handguns.

2018-04-29 18:59:13 UTC

People who will commit crime already do NOT follow law.. why make more laws they wont follow just to make it hard on the rest of the law abiding public

2018-04-29 18:59:27 UTC

Like I said, I don't believe in all or nothing. Not only does it not make you any better that the other side, being unwilling to compromise, it also doesn't get you any closer to your goal unless you get an overwhelming majority.

2018-04-29 18:59:39 UTC

California and Maryland require new residents to report their firearms.

2018-04-29 18:59:48 UTC

The "other side"'s goal is complete disarmament of the populace

2018-04-29 18:59:53 UTC

no thanks

2018-04-29 18:59:56 UTC

they get nothing

2018-04-29 19:00:26 UTC

Good for you. You get no where.

2018-04-29 19:00:32 UTC

I don't need to get anywhere

2018-04-29 19:00:35 UTC

I have the right to bear arms

2018-04-29 19:00:39 UTC

no one can say different.

2018-04-29 19:00:47 UTC

Unless the constitution is changed, which wont be

2018-04-29 19:00:57 UTC

this really is a pointless argument. for all.

2018-04-29 19:01:28 UTC

Fine, let the other side win

2018-04-29 19:01:29 UTC

"shall not be infringed"

2018-04-29 19:01:34 UTC

the other side will not win

2018-04-29 19:01:52 UTC

California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, and a New York all I have some kind of registration required for so-called "assault weapons" and/or "assault pistols" and/or 50 caliber or larger weapons and/or high-capacity magazines.

2018-04-29 19:01:53 UTC

They will if they get enough people.

2018-04-29 19:02:15 UTC

meh, it'll never happen

2018-04-29 19:02:19 UTC

Hell, they are starting to get private businesses on their side

2018-04-29 19:03:01 UTC

I don't live in any of the aforementioned States, nor the District of Columbia, nor do I have any intention of ever living in any of those States or the District of Columbia.

2018-04-29 19:04:02 UTC

why should anyone have to comprise on their rights? I mean, what's the point? How will me compromising on my rights stop crazy people from doing crazy things?

2018-04-29 19:04:55 UTC

You see, there becomes a problem when you refuse to compromise even a little to shift the existing stuff in your favor. There already is gun control laws. There is a federal ban on actually assault rifles, which is to say fully automatic ones. So say what you want about it never happening. I say it already has happened and could get worse if you try and win people over.
