Noice
@Timcast doesn't seem to respond to emails with story tips
any better way of reaching him?
that won't result in a restraining order?
lol yes
Maybe he's doing something like sleeping or working on something else?
i mean, it's perfectly possible that I'm just interested in something retarded taht nobody else will care about
or that he can't understand spergy emails with a shitload of links
I generally give at least a few hours for a response to an email.
it's been 2 days
Ah, well then I don't know.
well, since he doesn't seem interested, I'll just post it here. https://gendertrender.wordpress.com/2018/04/27/san-francisco-public-library-hosts-transgender-art-exhibit-featuring-weapons-intended-to-kill-feminists
long story short, the San Fran Public library has an art exhibit featuring the "degenderettes"
including tons of weapons
"bloodstained" shirts with stuff like "I punch TERFS"
TERFs and other feminists are pissed, mostly because it glorifies violence by men against women
Ha nitpicky point, most violence against lesbians is committed by lesbians, contra article.
and are reviewbombing the library on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sfpl.org/reviews/?ref=page_internal
But interesting story I'm peeking at anyway.
nonstop arguing for several days in those facebook comments, many complaints of 1A violation censorship (since public libraries are gov.)
the library has double posted this in response: https://twitter.com/SFPublicLibrary/status/989219339306811392 but have not otherwise made comment
people are contacting the mayor and other gov officials, but there is no other public response
Also, many of the degenderettes were involved in antifa and the "Battle of Berkeley", lots of screenshots of the same shields, weapons, people, and props.
The shirt has been taken down in response to the complaints, but the weapons have stayed.
Seems like it's still playing out too.
the most notable development since my original email to Tim and Emily was that THE GUARDIAN mentioned it in an incel article https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/29/violent-misogyny-not-confined-to-internet-incels
It's relevant for multiple reasons as I see.
I thought so. Almost no mainstream reporting too, so far
Does anyone know how the "exhibition" was funded? Or if, I guess. There's a case that given limited public space in a library for exhibitions that allowing it is in fact a form of promotion or endorsement, I suppose, if they were given the space without paying.
If they rented it or such, then that argument is irrelevant, though
Oh, funded by "Friends of the SFPL"
seems like questions for a reporter to find out
or that
lol
So, they're an external private funding source, that paid for the exhibition. Taking it down (partly) is probably a 1A issue.
Maybe some wiggliness about calling for direct violence to neutralize the 1A issues?
my suspicion is that mass flagging triggers facebook to take out the comments. it's not the admins of the library doing it
I mean taking down part of the exhibition, one of the "bloody" shirts was removed but the rest of the exhibition is apparently still there.
oh
OH
1A double fucked
