Opened the link, saw the length of the video, immediately gave up.

2018-05-01 00:12:21 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

What if it's a pug asking though?

2018-05-01 00:19:34 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I suppose I should have learned to pilot a helicopter instead.

2018-05-01 00:19:43 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Fuel pays for itself.

2018-05-01 00:22:29 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Interestingly enough, I'm actually working on an application of converting impact force into electricity for my day job.

2018-05-01 00:24:39 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Unfortunately not, the ratio of commies and fascists to middle-of-the-road types is just too low for that to work.

2018-05-01 00:25:13 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Storage and distribution @Dawlben

2018-05-01 00:26:08 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

A connection isn't a causal relation.

2018-05-01 00:26:39 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

You can connect anything to anything with enough mental gymnastics, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

2018-05-01 00:29:16 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

The null hypothesis is a methodological concept for a reason.

2018-05-01 00:31:40 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

It's not about superiority, I'm just not easily convinced unless there is really strong evidence to support a claim.

2018-05-01 00:33:03 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I don't really "believe" per se, but the mathematical predictions and experiment reliably align. @Dawlben

2018-05-01 00:34:03 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I just have a few books on it on my shelf. I wouldn't say I'm an expert.

2018-05-01 00:34:23 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

*Hanlon's

2018-05-01 00:35:08 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Just in case someone wanted to google it because they didn't know what you were referring to.

2018-05-01 00:35:23 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I've worked the math and done some of the experiments, they hold up.

2018-05-01 00:35:35 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

If there was a better explanation, I would take it.

2018-05-01 00:36:45 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Rocketry is way easier than a good number of engineering applications we experience day in and out, though.

2018-05-01 00:38:02 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

The number of people needed to keep these things secret, it's statistically unlikely that there aren't leaks all the time.

2018-05-01 00:38:39 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

GPS systems also are an interesting practical application of general relativity. Which I know better than tiny scale quantum stuff.

2018-05-01 00:39:24 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Have you ever experienced radio signal loss?

2018-05-01 00:42:02 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

The positional drift on a non skew-corrected gps signal would be off by roughly 10km in a day's time.

2018-05-01 00:45:56 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I had to look the numbers up. I'm actually curious now about maintaining the power requirements on a Rubidium oscillator for the timing, the microprocessing to correct for GR, and the signal RX/TX

2018-05-01 00:47:17 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Yeah, it looks like an atmospheric monitor to me too.

2018-05-01 00:47:44 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Every counterexample is proof of the conspiracy.

2018-05-01 00:49:35 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

It's a closed system. Everything outside the system is just evidence to support it.

2018-05-01 00:49:44 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I'm blanking on the formal term at the moment.

2018-05-01 00:50:07 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Dass raciss

2018-05-01 00:52:24 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Closed ontology, doi.

2018-05-01 00:54:10 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Government lies are math man.

2018-05-01 00:54:40 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I learned calc properly from Spivak, like a good goy..I mean boy.

2018-05-01 00:55:17 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

And then baby Rudin for more in-depth Real Analysis.

2018-05-01 00:56:21 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

At least it wasn't learning something like algebraic topology in the gulag.

2018-05-01 00:57:02 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Or working through Jackson's electrodynamics solo.

2018-05-01 00:57:11 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Now I'm having PTSD

2018-05-01 00:58:13 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I'm a math-whore myself. It's just the problems in Jackson are rough.

2018-05-01 00:58:23 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Yeah.

2018-05-01 00:58:47 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Grew up in the same town where Mike Pence is from.

2018-05-01 00:59:36 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I went to high school with two of his nieces. Their only redeeming qualities were attached to their chests.

2018-05-01 01:00:12 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Massive.

2018-05-01 01:00:56 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

And when you're 15 trying to go through AP Chem with those in the classroom was just rough.

2018-05-01 01:01:05 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Ha, that was a good while ago.

2018-05-01 01:01:24 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

But one of them was or maybe still is a local news anchor.

2018-05-01 01:02:09 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Yeah she was one of them

2018-05-01 01:02:49 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Oy vey time has been unkind

2018-05-01 01:04:33 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

But being an outspoken troublemaking atheist was just as difficult as one would expect.

2018-05-01 01:06:23 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Welp, so much for me then.

2018-05-01 01:07:09 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

If I wanted to be pedantic I could go on at great length about moral anti-realism, but that's a long and pointless train.

2018-05-01 01:09:24 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Ok, that's amazing.

2018-05-01 01:10:17 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

A really cool and impractical extension of the player piano or Jacquard loom.

2018-05-01 01:10:56 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I'm curious how sensitive it is to temperature with metal balls.

2018-05-01 01:11:59 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Yeah moisture/humidity warping the wood would wreck it.

2018-05-01 01:15:43 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

This is pretty neat to me.

2018-05-01 01:16:45 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

It's a restored USAF training film, is that shitposting?

2018-05-01 01:17:10 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Fair enough.

2018-05-01 01:19:36 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Hopping over this way then.

2018-05-01 01:21:26 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

I just checked to make sure, IKEA was founded in 1943, that film was 1944

2018-05-01 01:21:52 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

That's a good shop.

2018-05-01 01:22:13 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

I knew IKEA was old but I wasn't sure how old.

2018-05-01 01:22:55 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Really close, and given the time to film and edit and all that, maybe it was technically older than IKEA

2018-05-01 01:24:01 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Even cave painters knew ass is best.

2018-05-01 01:25:42 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Nope.png

2018-05-01 01:26:26 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

The Dark Souls of Dark Souls references

2018-05-01 01:30:07 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Maybe he's doing something like sleeping or working on something else?

2018-05-01 01:30:58 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I generally give at least a few hours for a response to an email.

2018-05-01 01:31:33 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Ah, well then I don't know.

2018-05-01 01:33:34 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Ha nitpicky point, most violence against lesbians is committed by lesbians, contra article.

2018-05-01 01:34:00 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

But interesting story I'm peeking at anyway.

2018-05-01 01:36:51 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Spicy,that one.

2018-05-01 01:37:22 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Seems like it's still playing out too.

2018-05-01 01:40:30 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

It's relevant for multiple reasons as I see.

2018-05-01 01:43:55 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Does anyone know how the "exhibition" was funded? Or if, I guess. There's a case that given limited public space in a library for exhibitions that allowing it is in fact a form of promotion or endorsement, I suppose, if they were given the space without paying.

2018-05-01 01:44:18 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

If they rented it or such, then that argument is irrelevant, though

2018-05-01 01:46:08 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

More nitpickery: modern art, contemporary art, and conceptual art are different things.

2018-05-01 01:46:58 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

But, still...that looks like my cutting board.

2018-05-01 01:47:48 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Oh, funded by "Friends of the SFPL"

2018-05-01 01:49:16 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

So, they're an external private funding source, that paid for the exhibition. Taking it down (partly) is probably a 1A issue.

2018-05-01 01:50:32 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Maybe some wiggliness about calling for direct violence to neutralize the 1A issues?

2018-05-01 01:51:04 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Every end-grain piece looks like that.

2018-05-01 01:52:33 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

Defenders of conceptual art say things like trying to "start conversations" etc, but the only conversation about that is "what the fuck is it doing in an art gallery?"

2018-05-01 01:53:41 UTC [Subverse #shitposting]

And some masterful weaponized autism.

2018-05-01 01:54:22 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

I mean taking down part of the exhibition, one of the "bloody" shirts was removed but the rest of the exhibition is apparently still there.

2018-05-01 01:56:04 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Having trouble finding objective information on it though.

2018-05-01 01:59:19 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

https://www.facebook.com/degenderettes/ they have their own post on it as well.

2018-05-01 01:59:29 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

zhey have zheir?

2018-05-01 02:04:29 UTC [Subverse #newsroom]

Right. Isolated community, rather than the publicly funded institution, so that makes sense.
