He is putting forward policy which will allow the American public to reap the benefits of automation and which would allow people more freedom and financial security to do things like change jobs or move state

2019-05-16 14:54:50 UTC

Leading to a more dynamic economy which can evolve with the times

2019-05-16 14:55:19 UTC

@Chemar That study actually kind of proves that Andrew isn't overexaggerating and just re affirms what he says

2019-05-16 14:55:42 UTC

Sorry for the rant lol

2019-05-16 14:56:09 UTC

But it annoys me when people send a source and say that their point is instantly proven

2019-05-16 14:56:49 UTC

Not gonna lie but that’s a lot of words

2019-05-16 14:59:12 UTC

U know what’s a annoying 10 frickin paragraphs to express an opinion

2019-05-16 15:00:06 UTC

details means more info

2019-05-16 15:00:12 UTC

which is good in some cases

2019-05-16 15:00:15 UTC

like debate

2019-05-16 15:07:44 UTC

👍

2019-05-16 15:09:01 UTC

If you look at this part of the study it says in the midpoint scenario every developed country will have between 20% to 27% of its workforce displaced by automation

2019-05-16 15:09:36 UTC

And that's the MIDPOINT scenario which means its not even worst case

2019-05-16 15:09:49 UTC

Do you realise how catastrophic that'd be to a country

2019-05-16 15:10:05 UTC

And the point is this study assumes itd be possible to retrain those people

2019-05-16 15:10:20 UTC

But when you look at what's happened in the past, retraining is never that successful

2019-05-16 15:10:32 UTC

Andrew really isn't overexaggerating

2019-05-16 15:24:42 UTC

except andrew really is a retard

2019-05-16 15:26:14 UTC

They never really tell you how exactly it's going to get displaced

2019-05-16 15:26:18 UTC

just spit out some bullshit numbers

2019-05-16 15:31:57 UTC

@The Lemon If you watch the video I linked, Andrew (not yang, the senior political analyst at DWR ) addresses the truck driver issue

2019-05-16 15:33:11 UTC

But, to put it simply, automation of trucking is nowhere near being commonplace and even if it did, these trucks would steal need a driver, just one capable of handling the truck's automated systems. Think of how airplanes have autopilot, but still require pilots.

2019-05-16 15:46:04 UTC

Ok I was just looking at the study cited in that video and it says this

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523835768813387796/578609119758516234/unknown.png

2019-05-16 15:46:38 UTC

This also

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523835768813387796/578609263874801686/unknown.png

2019-05-16 15:47:11 UTC

What is says basically is that only 3.8 mill actual truckers will lose their jobs but up to 12 million people who do work in other parts of the industry will also lose their jobs

2019-05-16 15:47:29 UTC

That dosen't sound like its not going to be a problem at all like the video you sent says

2019-05-16 15:47:34 UTC

again you retard

2019-05-16 15:47:40 UTC

how the fuck do they support people will lose their jobs

2019-05-16 15:47:52 UTC

the study is pulling numbers out of their ass

2019-05-16 15:48:02 UTC

Also the guy in the video says "Work will be enhanced rather than lost" but he dosen't say how

2019-05-16 15:48:49 UTC

It says here how they got the numbers

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523835768813387796/578609813488009216/unknown.png

2019-05-16 15:48:57 UTC
2019-05-16 15:49:30 UTC

Also interestingly the study says these are the areas that are likely to expand due to AVs

2019-05-16 15:49:32 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523835768813387796/578609994703044618/unknown.png

2019-05-16 15:49:55 UTC

As I said before, all of these are highly skilled jobs which are going to require education

2019-05-16 15:50:15 UTC

The people who are losing their jobs due to displacement from AVs are not going to be able to suddenly jump into these jobs

2019-05-16 15:50:54 UTC

And these are the jobs that do the "handling of the truck's automated systems" just like you said @Billcat

2019-05-16 15:52:29 UTC

Its also worth noting how this study cites a number for the amount of money that would go into the economy but it doesn't cite a number for the number of jobs that would potentially be created

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/523835768813387796/578610735115010048/unknown.png

2019-05-16 15:52:34 UTC

But since this study is pro-AV

2019-05-16 15:52:53 UTC

you would have thought they'd show the number of jobs that could potentially be created if it supported their narrative right
