The trade war was a temporary loss with long term gains as China cucked so hard.
Pledging to buy $200 billion worth of more US goods every year over the pre war baseline, pledging to stop forced technology transfer, pledging to reduce barriers to entry for US financial services in China and IP theft.
This is all phase one, phase two is coming soon.
> trump move the unemployment bar just barely 1 point. Obama moved it 8 points.
Because Obama was in a recession, it's harder to lower unemployment when there's less of it!
@Kenpachi I'll tag you too

@sɪᴅɪsɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀᴇ
what gain did USA make from the trade war?
China will buy more goods
That $200 bn doesn't cover the $35 bn lost 'per quarter'
reverse isn't progress
It’s 200 per year
Nope
So in the few years the cost will be recouped and gains will be made
it's a 1 time purchase.
It’s not.
The deal says every year
single sale
no long term contrracts at ALL
No, every year.
@sɪᴅɪsɴᴏᴛʜᴇʀᴇ
The deal was to 'increase levels' but 100% open ended.
A 1 shot deal.
"The two sides have sold the deal in their own language – the US turning up the volume on Chinese monetary commitments to purchase US$200 billion worth of US imports while China has stated that these will conform to market requirements and WTO conditions. The dual interpretation leaves ample space for future disputes."

^^ very well cited.
200 billion over the baseline.
7 quarters * $40bn = $280bn
Trump got a 1 shot grocery deal for $200bn
That's still $80bn in the hole.
And that's starting. That's just cherry picking a couple of major industries. That is by no means all the loses.
It wasn’t seven quarters.
More like 6.
But anyways, this is 200 billion and it continues on for a long time.
(I’m also not sure that figure is correct)

> But anyways, this is 200 billion and it continues on for a long time.
BULLSHIT!
Where is the renewal stated?
It’s a long term deal.
where does it state that?
I don't find a date past 2021
the both sides estimate it will continue on till 2025
I’m pretty sure phase 2 will finalise this.
everything contingent on 'phase II', which is never going to happen.
It’s already in talks
where does the deal state 2025?
Phase II negotiations have not even started.
I’m quoting an article for that
> Phase II negotiations have not even started.
Talks have started
China is scared of Trump, in a good way, so they will commit to these purchases past 2021. Phase 2 as well, will be more expansive.
Phase 1 ends in 2021, including provisions.
