It's applied psychology. People want to conform to a group. Peer pressure. Everybody else is smoking, so you take a puff to be social.
Except with media you can't get an accurate picture of the size of the group or what everybody else is actually doing. You can only get a perception.
And that perception can be crafted to yield a desired effect.

Everything you've posted could air on any news channel and be completely above board.

I don't even think its political. At least not as much as we like to think. I think they are trying to limit available ad space as much as possible without just out right removing motivation from most of their users. probably hoping creators will leave, so they stop needing to pay for storing all these videos and jack up the price of ads to raise money.
given that they seem to strike out against the left and the right depending on who they think is about to draw the largest negative PR, or at least use it as an excuse.
Convinent that they can use it to starve out creators that dont follow some set of opaque guidelines.
