there are percedures
their info has to match whats in the pollbooks
or they cannot vote
they have to update their info
Ultimately, it's just hard to prevent fraud.
I had a Union election. The Union made sure to check and double check every single person with ID. Photo ID and designated polling place.
doesnt help that electric ballots arent safe
Are paper ballots safe?
we use paper and a scanner which is more secure
What security measures are in place for those?
Which primary was this, may I ask?
basically fill out the ballot with your marks then put it in a scanner that counts the votes based on the scan
I really don't see how that's different from any other digital method
asking me to dox myself lel
?
I was curious what state and party mostly.
Since states have different procedures and parties treat things differently in each state.
im messing
Virginia
it was two party primary
scanner drops ballots into a cabinet and at the end of the voting period, we collect the paper
So really it's more of an automated vote counter.
and to my knowledge there is no known way to hack these scanners compared to the electric booths
yea
it detects errors too
like when people mark the ballot wrong it doesnt count it
yeah if ppl incorrectly fill out the ballot lol
liek how do you do that outside of doing it purposefully as a protest vote
People are going to incorrectly fill out anything tho
iirc if it goes unfilled it doesnt count those either
usually they clearly state, fill out the fuckign dot , dont check it, dont X it just shade it in
yea
they have instructions
people still fuck it up
we had 2 people invalidate their votes i think
due to marking mistakes
and once you fuck up thats it iirc
no second try
although dont quote me i dont remember exactly
yeah i helped with a municipal election here and we used a similar system
Regarding the ID thing, I def see its merits, especially from experience as a poll worker but I also think that if only citizens can register to vote in the first place then what's the point, outside of ID theft
