lmao
I don't live in california anymore
uhhh
you shouldve accepted and turned her in
id give you citizenship for that
Did she vote illegally?
@Tohob hope central Oregon is better. I too am fleeing the city soon.
naw she was like this elderly white woman who did way too much acid in the 60s
if she was illegal I'd be surprised
yeah it's only the portland area that's like this. once you get out of the city it's small cities, farmland, and reasonable people
yeah she was not the only person who offered to show me how to vote illegally. It happened with 3 or 4 other people. The frequency with which people suggested it to me, combined with the mundanity of it all (nobody seemed to think it was a big deal and when I pointed out it was a felony one perosn scoffed and said "pfft this is california they don't care"), i'm now pretty convinced it's a widespread issue
I _really_ liked portland when I visited in 2013 so it's a bummer it got so crazy
oregon is basically an extension of idaho up until you reach the mountains
yeah i used to like it here
I live in texas now and everything is great except it's been >100 every day for hte past three weeks
also I miss mountains
damn. we went on vacation to the coast just to get away from the 90 degree weather here for a weekend
i can't survive heat like that lol
Which part of TX?
I thought TX was still sane.
Oh. THAT makes sense.
Austin. Urrrrr...
but out of all the places with healthy tech industries Austin and Denver are prett ymuch the only places I think are viable. Everywhere else is too crazy, too expensive, too urbanized, or some combination
Can confirm, would not advise moving to chicago at the moment
when **would** you advise moving to chicago tbh
Austin and Denver...not coincidentally the places most in danger of turning their states into California 2.
To much consternation of the natives.
As someone who lived in Austin for 5 years.
yeah I'm going to be pretty peeved if I escape california only to have it follow me
Yeah, I'd believe it.
fuck it, I'll go move to montana and be a hermit or something
Just know when you see us Texans griping about the "damn Californians" we're mostly referring to the ones who feel obligated to change the culture and politics.
So probably not you if I'm reading you right.
And this is from a native Texan who lived in Austin just as the Social Justice nonsense was starting.
Lol. My escape strategy is the open Midwest.
I'm from midwest canada
it would be nice to go back but:
-40 winter
programming jobs pay ~ 1/3rd of my current salary
shitty health care
concern over teh direction the country is currently going (although if they can generate enough backlash to replace trudeau without going hard right, this will probably get better)
Yeah, I keep hearing stuff about Doug Ford. Not sure if that's your idea of hard right. But I can see him coming to power in Canada.
I don't know enough about the specifics but based on what I know, doug ford is fine
