And where does Russia and China fit into all this?

2018-10-26 19:35:47 UTC

This isn't an experiment where we can control for all the variables.

2018-10-26 19:35:47 UTC

Here's the thing- the UK holds all the cards here. The EU isn't going to cut them out of trade, they're still going to be dependent on the UK. Instead of leveraging this and getting what they want, May and co have attempted to capitulate as much as possible at every turn

2018-10-26 19:36:08 UTC

Because they don't want to leave, the demos does

2018-10-26 19:36:30 UTC

Um, as I see it the UK needs the EU more than the reverse. All the UK has for it is holding Ireland over the EUs head.

2018-10-26 19:36:44 UTC

Lolno

2018-10-26 19:36:45 UTC

arms providers, Russia will likely reconquer a territory or two, and China will use it to strengthen their ties to the EU for trade.

They may even attempt to field small armies to join in an attempt to sway the EU more to a communist ideology. But once the US steps in, none of that matters, because capitalism and the US military will soundly end it.

2018-10-26 19:36:51 UTC

Look up who pays into the EU and who takes out

2018-10-26 19:37:08 UTC

The UK is the EU's biggest piggie bank

2018-10-26 19:37:26 UTC

Many of those banks are making moves ashore

2018-10-26 19:37:39 UTC

I wasn't talking about literal banks what

2018-10-26 19:37:39 UTC

London is in a panic over it

2018-10-26 19:37:53 UTC

The country that pays the most into the European Union is the UK

2018-10-26 19:38:04 UTC

@JustTom , but China is capitalist now

2018-10-26 19:38:13 UTC

HAhahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaha

2018-10-26 19:38:17 UTC

oh god, that was a good one Cat

2018-10-26 19:38:24 UTC

O_o

2018-10-26 19:38:26 UTC

>China is capitalist
Shitposting is in the other channel

2018-10-26 19:38:37 UTC

Um, okay?

2018-10-26 19:38:42 UTC

at best you could call it state capitalism.

2018-10-26 19:39:13 UTC

China has many issues that hold it back and will continue to do so

2018-10-26 19:39:32 UTC

But the Chinese have managed in a way the Soviets never could

2018-10-26 19:40:31 UTC

State Capitalism is like a People's Republic
It's just a command economy

2018-10-26 19:40:45 UTC

China also holds a stranglehold over many rare earth minerals we need for our war machine

2018-10-26 19:40:49 UTC

The ideal situation in the EU is for them to go ahead and start WW3 just in time for the UK to waffle on their Brexit deal again, and the war to drag the UK in just long enough to flush out all the lefties and make them decide "oh shit, we DO want Brexit now, because we're anti-war", then let them back out in a kneejerk sudden hard-brexit deal.

Then everything I already said happen in the EU.

And... after that... let... capitalist china... get good trade deals with the EU? I think? Not sure how this would be a bad thing, if we take Cat at her word that china is capitalists now.

2018-10-26 19:40:53 UTC

There are many private companies in China.

2018-10-26 19:41:08 UTC

i don't know about command economy. the central government isn't directing quotas and production goals.

2018-10-26 19:41:16 UTC

but they do have override power

2018-10-26 19:41:36 UTC

and can interfere freely in any "private" business for government purposes.

2018-10-26 19:41:50 UTC

Canada is exerts more communist/socialist control over industry than China.

2018-10-26 19:42:10 UTC

Yes, privatized companies are a recent thing in China, but the grip of the Iron Fist is still strong.

2018-10-26 19:42:20 UTC

i think the nazis would look at the chinese economy and say they had the right idea

2018-10-26 19:42:39 UTC

The US exerts control over economies as well. Take a look at how we use governmental policies to prop up industries like ethanol.

2018-10-26 19:42:45 UTC

not run by government fiat, but subordinated to the government.

2018-10-26 19:42:46 UTC

China is still heavily communist and the leadership demonstrates it. The thing is they've realized that a capitalist approach to their economy allows it to flourish in a superior manner. They are still communists at their core and in all of their beliefs and power structure.

2018-10-26 19:43:31 UTC

Agreed, @JustTom . See, I can say it, and not just over GLBT stuff.

2018-10-26 19:43:35 UTC

😃

2018-10-26 19:43:49 UTC

I think you are mistaking communist for authoritarian

2018-10-26 19:44:10 UTC

Fascists don't generally have strong parties. They have strong leaders.

2018-10-26 19:44:18 UTC

I think first people are mistaking socialism and communism
