I have a narrative in my head that it causes more trouble than good
"Free trade" is great for international corporations; not so great for everybody else
For instance, from what I've heard, the combination of NAFTA plus American government subsidies means that it is cheaper to buy American corn in Mexico than Mexican corn
So they lost a lot of agricultural jobs
Which is one reason they want to come here
And don't give a shit that it inconveniences Americans
So, perhaps, NAFTA falling apart will actually help America and Mexico
They will be more willing to go back if they are not merely being tossed back over the wall into a shithole
But with an actual opportunity to go back and Make Mexico Great Again
If NAFTA ended I would party like its 1776
