Putting people in re-education camps is wrong.
Even if I have a low opinion of Islam, what China is doing to the Uyghurs is beyond reprehensible.
What China is doing is winning because China gives zero fucks about your moral sentiments.
It is not the place of the state to determine what is moral.
I'm okay with China putting Muslims in camps.
And when they come for other religious dissidents?
It's one thing to reject Muslin immigration and quite another to wipe out a people on their own historical soil, don't you think?
@DrYuriMom Yes.
When China comes for me, then China will be my problem.
Do I have to quote Martin Niemöller?
True.
But what the Uyghurs are going through is still wrong.
I hate situations like the Uyghurs because I generally don't like messing with internal national affairs.
What the Uyghurs are going through isn't nearly as bad as what Islam puts the rest of the world through.
China should still be called out for it.
Eye-for-an-eye is Islam's first rule.
And we have to be better than that.
The US can protest and encourage China along a path, but we won't be going to war over it. this is where a healthy world community can help mold baseline behaviors.
No, we don't have to be better if it means being dead.
I’m not calling for open borders, I’m calling for people to call China out for persecuting its own populace.
Perhaps they're not part of China's populace.
Most Uyghurs live in the Chinese province of Xinjiang.
And yes, there is a separatist movement, but the entire Uyghur race shouldn’t be punished for that.
They're plainly not considered by China to be part of the Chinese populace.
Now you’re just being stubborn.
I'm being realistic.
Muslim populations cause this sort of strife everywhere. They're not a part of any populace that can avoid it.
I’d like to point out that the Hui people are predominately Muslim, and they are on good terms with the Chinese government.
