I agree on the recruiters for sure. They are basically walking targets at the moment.
The agency may also have their own policy...it won't get you put in jail but you could get fired

Biggest agency near me has reserve/unpaid, they can't carry on LEOSA outside the county

That's Israeli carry law in a nutshell, NCOs and up can carry as civilians
At least Ive never met a MP with one
MPs are covered by LEOSA
And coast guard boarding officers
It just makes sense. My literal job description was to train soldier to close with and destroy enemies of the United States in close combat and to lead them in said combat.
Has to do with their authority to enforce federal laws/UCMJ

It wasn't written with the intent of MPs...who are the least competent in my experience
But to me it would seem that its also giving more freedom to those who excerise higher responsibilities than an average person.
MPs can be hit and miss. But thats the same everywhere
I think it's only fair that servicemen who carry pistols should qualify for it too
But that's not how it's written unfortunately so I suggest people affiliate with a local dept
