The Red Army is gone. USSR collapsed. The current ruler of Russia is a populist and anticommunist. It is not the same country as 1919 (Russian Empire)
That doesn't answer my other question though. Why is China our enemy? We haven't fought in 65 years.

@Deleted User classic exchange with a liberal. They are the smartest bunch of idiots out there. Always " too busy " to explain themselves or support their beliefs with anything of sustenance. Our greedy overlords have sold everything “American” to China. They sold our jobs, intellectual property, factories, you name it to the ones promising the biggest return of investment. China just happened to be the takers.

Want to be a superpower, yes, they absolutely do.
But by any means necessary? No. They haven't invaded anyone.
The last time Chinese troops showed up uninvited was 1979, against another communist country in fact.
@Andrules that's capitalism. And has nothing to do with their government or nation as a whole, but with Chinese corporations. Not always the most upstanding institutions however that is capitalist competition. Best product for the lowest cost. Though it's probably not the best, it is for many people an acceptable compromise between quality and cost.
Why did this happen? Not because of Chinese aggression. Because China moved further to capitalism, while the US moved in the opposite direction. It became sound business doctrine and more attractive to conduct business in China than in the US.
If there was a desire to push communism on others, they have the means to do so and there's not much anyone could do about it. Their victory over the US would come at a significant cost however so they won't conquer Japan or South Korea. But they could defeat every Asian country except Russia in a matter of a few weeks each and convert them to communism fairly easily.
I had an interest-free loan offer to start an English language school in Zunyi. Zunyi is to their history what Philadelphia is to ours. Yet I could start my own private company there whenever I want. Obviously I turned it down to continue making half as much money as a cop.
