it was put on the Maltese flag after the second world war. as a Commendation for the tenacity of the Maltese for defending itself from the Axis

even as a tiny island with barely much military, we were so strategically superior that the germans couldn't take us. they instead decided to bomb all of Malta

which is why Malta is the most bombed country in world war 2

we were a stepping stone to getting the Germans to conquer Africa. that's why they wanted this place, to serve as a military port

all provisions convoys were sunk when trying to resupply malta

save for one

the last one got into port barely holding on. it was wrecked

but the supplies and food was enough to reinvigorate the soldiers and give hope to the citizens

and thus, Malta played a huge role in stopping the Germans from taking Africa, which would supply them with precious metals and oil. probably would have won them the war

sorry I'm kinda patriotic with such things

i may not be born Maltese but I'm proud to be a citizen of this country
