Because our people chose to focus on institutions, science and commerce etc. Many of these countries does not, or focuses on completly different development such as personal gain (corruption) and power disputes.

And now we in the west has started focusing on helping everyone but ourselfes. Very interesting.

the chinese have had massive growth because they have been investing in capital and infrastructure at an absurd rate (mostly driven by their capital controls). they have also been sending their kids overseas to get educated, and soliciting all sorts of foreign investment. also doesn't hurt that government officials charged with corruption can get executed.

2018-11-09 00:15:37 UTC

as far as i know, western europe was still clubbing eachother to death in pure tribal mode whilst further east they were developing civilization

2018-11-09 00:16:16 UTC

Why then is it that the entire political and economical system in china is corrupt..?

2018-11-09 00:16:35 UTC

implying it isnt here? lol

2018-11-09 00:17:01 UTC

Yes

2018-11-09 00:17:13 UTC

most certainly not in the same manner and extent

2018-11-09 00:17:32 UTC

Well i would say we are getting rather close to the same manner and extent

2018-11-09 00:18:47 UTC

and political & economical corruption is most definitely happening all over the place in the west

2018-11-09 00:19:18 UTC

Do you see police district chiefs in 'battles' with their regional governments over some investment dispute?
I assume you have not studied the real situation of Chines affairs?

2018-11-09 00:19:28 UTC

forgot to add, im from europe, im talking about a european perspective mind u

2018-11-09 00:19:48 UTC

I am Swedish my self..

2018-11-09 00:20:17 UTC

define battles

2018-11-09 00:20:44 UTC

Not as in guns vs guns, but severe powerstruggles resulting in complete political removal

2018-11-09 00:20:56 UTC

the yeah ive seen that happen

2018-11-09 00:20:56 UTC

over things that should not have been in the first place

2018-11-09 00:21:11 UTC

one big one in the 90s

2018-11-09 00:21:30 UTC

But is it the norm in wester society? i would surely say no

2018-11-09 00:21:33 UTC

not over investments, but over political corruption

2018-11-09 00:22:18 UTC

I would say it is, because its inevitable when you are required to lobby the government to get anything done

2018-11-09 00:23:10 UTC

I can not say the same about the situaiton in Sweden..
Perhaps i have assumed that the generall standards in the west were simmilar

2018-11-09 00:23:38 UTC

Well im not gonna claim my country is the same as china that would be a bit too much

2018-11-09 00:23:49 UTC

but were getting closer to what china does in regards to the EU

2018-11-09 00:24:02 UTC

i agree on that

2018-11-09 00:24:06 UTC

That aside, there is rampant corruption in my country

2018-11-09 00:24:10 UTC

and everyone knows it

2018-11-09 00:24:12 UTC

its not hidden

2018-11-09 00:24:15 UTC

its done openly

2018-11-09 00:24:18 UTC

Which county is this?

2018-11-09 00:24:21 UTC

belgium

2018-11-09 00:24:38 UTC

waow, i've heard and read exactly ZERO about this

2018-11-09 00:25:00 UTC

Why would u, nobody gives a shit what happens in a tiny dot on the globe like belgium

2018-11-09 00:25:05 UTC

in Sweden, only talk is about Hungary and Poland these days

2018-11-09 00:25:41 UTC

this is nothing new, this has been going on for years

2018-11-09 00:26:26 UTC

A small county it may be, but not much more than a small minotity with a strong will is requierd for great change.

It is very sadening when you must see your home turn to the worse

2018-11-09 00:26:43 UTC

Corruption is often very hard to stop if it is not in it's early stages

2018-11-09 00:26:47 UTC

I can give some very clear examples as well:
Certain Socialist party heads found to be seating at charity instances and stealing money from them

2018-11-09 00:27:16 UTC

Completion of a road has to be done since 1975, still not even started to build

2018-11-09 00:27:56 UTC

Whole shopping complex being put down someplace, turns out they didnt follow the proper procedure to find the best contractor

2018-11-09 00:27:58 UTC

Well here the left has apointed sympathizing executives to the public branches for decades. Be it the legal way though, making it almost imposible to move the country in an other political direction

2018-11-09 00:29:11 UTC

And if i got a bit further back, governments building useless structures that never been used after construction, just to spent their portion of the taxpayers money
