Social Security?
No, the voter registry. You have to register to vote.
When you show up there is a list of registered voters and you sign in by your name.
I've only voted like 3 times and in all three times they ask for ID, drivers license or social security.
And before then I had to register. So why the talk about voter ID?
Is there any inherent security that comes with that?
didn't think of that that is a good talking point
What I'm saying is that if there are already people who can fake IDs then there are people who can fake voter id
That's why IDs need better security measures implemented
The problem with voter registration is a lot of places simply don't check up on it
and if you can't verify the person who is claiming to be someone, then it is easy to have impersonators
I remember before they implemented voter ID in my state, you could literally walk into the place and just write your name on a piece of paper and vote
I could go in and vote under my neighbor's name if I wanted and nobody could say anything about it
I could go from polling center to polling center and have no hindrance on claiming to be someone from each place if I wanted to
now that we have voter ID, I have to show them identification or I can't vote
Oh now THATS a problem.
I don't see why not having verification is so bad. Atleast in the level we have in Florida
There are a lot of incompetent people running polling centers. Anything that will force them to actually verify that an election is being performed legitimately I will fullheartedly support.
In Florida they just ask for your id. They scan it, you sign something on thier touch screen and they ask you to wait for them to print your ballot. They print it you show them your id again and that's it. It's a simple process that I think should be more widespread
That's exactly how they do it here in MS. It's very straightforward and not any more invasive than buying a beer
You should see the dim bulbs running the Board of Elections where I live. Lucas Co, Ohio.
No I mean we do it the same here as you do in FL
we don't have the security problems we had back before the voter ID law
I understand, what I ask is what kinds of places have you seen this incompetence mentioned before
everywhere. I lived in a different voting district than my friends and they all said the same things I saw
No one actually acknowledges most incompetence. In fact, it's often intentionally ignored and denied.
I asked them if they had anyone verifying the names and they all said no
Particularly incompetence in low-level local government departments and agencies.
but once the voter ID law was passed, you can't get a ballot until you show your ID
and it's scanned
Of course not. They probably looked at you like your head was tacked on sideways when you asked it.
We have a form of Voter ID in Ohio, but it isn't consistently enforced across all counties statewide,
That kind of incompetence worry's me. These kinds of faults should be corrected. What would be the best way to correct this?
Really the only way to correct it is to report it
but you know how that goes
To who?
You should just thank whatever God you believe in that you don't have a Jon Stainbrook co-opting and infecting your county GOP with leftist anarchists and self-described communists. He's the guy who fucked out Board of elections to the point of total non-functionality.
I have never done it so I'm not sure who to report it to
