The fed only collects income tax, and some specialized sales taxes like Tabaco.

2019-01-03 20:21:02 UTC

Ok then, ty. I'm glad we're still willing to have discussion, btw, most people by now either get tired of talking about politics and economics, or don't have as much useful input to the discussion

2019-01-03 20:22:44 UTC

We're in <#509549100061163520>

2019-01-03 20:22:54 UTC

I don't think they'd be in here if the tired of it.

2019-01-03 20:23:19 UTC

Or was that a general comment?

2019-01-03 20:24:19 UTC

As far as state taxes go, I think the general system would be best if calculated by state. I've said before that the national percentage needed would be about 23%, but that may be different based on location. You're right in saying that it may incentivize high wealth people to move to areas where it'd benefit them best, and I don't exactly have an answer to it at the moment.

2019-01-03 20:25:41 UTC

General, but also specifically to you. It's good to have actual discussion with someone at least (likely more) intelligent as I am but with vastly different conclusions

2019-01-03 20:26:13 UTC

Not only that, but VAT/Usage taxes directly hurt low income, and middle income families more.

2019-01-03 20:26:34 UTC

Now that I do have part of an answer for

2019-01-03 20:26:41 UTC

Okay.

2019-01-03 20:26:55 UTC

Still WIP, but it's mostly functional

2019-01-03 20:30:55 UTC

The poverty level is calculable, and with a direct sales tax, the maximum possible taxation at the poverty level is also calculable. We have a couple options: we can either forgive the poverty rate amount of taxation, which is hard and doesn't benefit the people as much, or we can give a prebate of that base amount. (I'm on mobile so I'll be slow for a little)

2019-01-03 20:34:27 UTC

The prebate is the better option, Imo, for a couple reasons. It provides growth, is easily calculable (compared to forgiveness) and provides the same effect as a tax cut on the poor.

2019-01-03 20:40:57 UTC

With a flat tax on all markets it would remove the tax on the poor, but with untaxed secondary markets it also acts as a potential source of savings or further spending. Remember that with an untaxed secondary market, every dollar spent is used purely on market power. This, combined with reduced spending in general, means that it actively pushes buyers away from poverty (albeit only a little).

2019-01-03 20:46:01 UTC

The biggest issue is that if it only applies to people under the poverty rate, then they'll be encouraged to stay there and not move up and out. My personal solution (though it's a hard sell) is to make that prebate universal, so even middle income families don't have to worry about losing income once they leave poverty. Does this benefit the rich, too? Yes, but not nearly as much, since their spending is naturally higher anyway. I'm also not looking to settle wealth inequality, but to help the poverty rate and deal with the required money to run the government.

2019-01-03 20:51:01 UTC

That's the general gist of it. Alright, time to pick it apart

2019-01-03 20:55:18 UTC

Prebate: monthly check at the beginning of the month, like the functional inverse of a tax return

2019-01-03 21:46:06 UTC

Why is this anti trump Democrat shit legal. Chuck Schumer wanted to fund a 25 billion dollar border wall and security fund and now he refuses along with Pelosi to even remotely fund better security, yet daily our officers get injured and die fighting this issue head on. When is there going to be accountability for stalling a NECCESSITY for the safety of our country. Its national security. And if a politician gets in the way of national security due to bias and not a legitimate argument then they should be held accountable for every injury and death that occurs at the border due to the failings it currently has. I'm getting so sick of this anti trump rhetoric. It's got to a point where it HURTING AMERICANS. HURTING OUR PEERS. FUCKING LET HIM DO HIS JOB HE WAS ELECTED TO DO. Fuck.

2019-01-03 22:06:47 UTC

Except he wasn't elected to do that. Monetary policy is legislative

2019-01-03 22:07:31 UTC

Or technically the fed, but fiscal policy is legislative

2019-01-03 22:49:29 UTC

Speaking legally, he wasn't elected to do it.
Speaking from voter standpoint, he was elected to do it. Literally he said vote for me and I will do it, and people voted for him and said "ok, please do it"

2019-01-03 22:55:12 UTC

and they're dumb because he can't

2019-01-04 03:20:00 UTC

tfw someone dramatically misunderstands the purpose of the office of the president

2019-01-04 03:22:58 UTC

Whatever bud its national security I dont need ANOTHER family member of mine murdered by illegals who get out scott free because of this sanctuary bullshit

2019-01-04 03:49:21 UTC

sanctuary stuff is complete trash, I agree, but before we build a wall, let's actually enforce federal law

2019-01-04 04:28:59 UTC

what law

2019-01-04 04:41:06 UTC

There is only natural law.

The rest of the "question"

2019-01-04 08:24:07 UTC

Recession actually is comming though. It won't be trump's fault, but he will get blamed for it because he was dumb enough to take credit for obama's ~~boom~~ bubble. America will have a red wave in 2020, but not the Republican kind.

2019-01-04 08:27:25 UTC

I heard it on infowars so it must be true.
