2019-02-08 15:55:41 UTC

or maybe some wackjob saidbthat id need to verify

2019-02-08 15:56:31 UTC

I'm okay with innovation, but I won't trust people who outright said NO to all attempts to innovate and come up with safe nuclear power

2019-02-08 16:00:13 UTC

eitherway saving resources is fine but huge difference between reasonable advancement that follows along with the state technology, the reality that cheap fuel/power increases economic mobility of the poorest citizens, vs the lunacy that is the green new deal

2019-02-08 16:01:07 UTC

yep

2019-02-08 16:01:23 UTC

a lot of the green politics stuff isnt environmental its more "i hate people with fancy cars/big houses" and attempts to burden those lifestyles but ends up fucking the poor

2019-02-08 16:02:07 UTC

yep

2019-02-08 16:02:10 UTC

the whole green movement has been too tied to marxist idealogy for awhile, it would be nice to see greens that werent

2019-02-08 16:05:42 UTC

unless the sane democrats throw the far left from their party, it's not likely...

2019-02-08 16:18:11 UTC

It's depressing because I feel like if I came into politics a decade or two earlier I would have supported Democrats more than Republicans, but their adoption of the far left and doubling down on far left policies after the election of Trump just makes them look repulsive

2019-02-08 16:19:14 UTC

The election of Trump was a statement from the major populace that we do not like the far left's bullshit.
Their response, instead of rethinking their approach and trying to appeal to everyone this time around
was to just double the fuck down
and look how that's going for them

2019-02-08 16:19:16 UTC

The median Dem voter is already far-left according to some polls.

2019-02-08 16:19:37 UTC

i'd attribute most of that to uneducated tribalism

2019-02-08 16:20:04 UTC

"i saw an ad saying democrats support socialized healthcare and that sounds nice and i vote democrat so i guess i support that, whatever it is"

2019-02-08 16:20:27 UTC

you see that on both sides

2019-02-08 17:24:04 UTC

@Pendell People often say that you see these things on both sides, but there seems to be a lot more evidence of it on the left. Turn on the news and you see thousands of protesters who can't give a coherent answer about what they're protesting about. Then you check out one of the (less frequent) right wing protests and it's about something specific and everyone knows why they're there. For example compare the women's march to the march for life. One is an ambiguous mess, and the other is a clear and well defined cause
