called it late lol

2018-07-06 22:02:46 UTC

yeah, just a fraction of a second

2018-07-06 22:02:54 UTC

ye

2018-07-06 22:02:59 UTC

there are constantly legal disputes over who the "real owner" of things is

2018-07-06 22:03:04 UTC

the law settles that matter

2018-07-06 22:03:04 UTC

it depends on the circumstances

2018-07-06 22:03:06 UTC

the clutchness

2018-07-06 22:03:15 UTC

which goes to show that ownership, while a good idea, is still something that is socially constructed

2018-07-06 22:03:15 UTC

you can steal something and own it in many places

2018-07-06 22:03:19 UTC

that's not to say it's a bad thing

2018-07-06 22:03:23 UTC

"owning" something illegitimately contradicts the idea of ownership ... just bcuz someone seizes something or steal something from someone else doesnt make them the legit owner

2018-07-06 22:03:45 UTC

cease the means of reproduction

2018-07-06 22:03:48 UTC

if you are trapped in a room with a king and a president and you have a gun, and they do not, you own everything in that room

2018-07-06 22:03:53 UTC

b-b-but m'social constructs are Patriarchy lel

2018-07-06 22:04:03 UTC

you should read an old law case called Armory v. Delamirie

2018-07-06 22:04:06 UTC

cytos, that's not necessarily true

2018-07-06 22:04:15 UTC

it's interesting and talks about how ownership takes place

2018-07-06 22:04:17 UTC

my social constructs are iron golums

2018-07-06 22:04:20 UTC

If the king or the president you're trapped with can overpower you, they're the most powerful person in the room

2018-07-06 22:04:26 UTC

we dont create laws that "allow" ppl to own things.... but laws that PROTECT ppl's property

2018-07-06 22:04:28 UTC

ownership depends on enforceability

2018-07-06 22:04:29 UTC

and therefore they own everything in that room

2018-07-06 22:04:33 UTC

iron golums lol

2018-07-06 22:04:38 UTC

anyways I'm gonna go home, work is over

2018-07-06 22:04:43 UTC

2018-07-06 22:04:56 UTC

2018-07-06 22:04:58 UTC

2018-07-06 22:05:04 UTC

2018-07-06 22:05:05 UTC

its worth it though

2018-07-06 22:05:05 UTC

<:sgtkilHi:400922883494379530> bye

2018-07-06 22:05:06 UTC

cannot follow all of your comments, everyone... sorry ... this is getting too high volume chat lol

2018-07-06 22:05:06 UTC

if there is no police force prepared to take shit back for you, contraband is legitimate ownership, as long as the new owner can defend it where you could not

2018-07-06 22:05:26 UTC

oh, don't forget about the socially constructed pipes that take the water to your socially constructed home

2018-07-06 22:06:11 UTC

What if WATER is a social construct

2018-07-06 22:06:17 UTC

the pipes do exist, but they are just resting in the ground, the idea that the water company owns them is just agreed upon with the state authority that can enforce said ownership due to its law enforcement

2018-07-06 22:06:26 UTC

forget about water, what if the immortal soul is a human construct?

2018-07-06 22:06:34 UTC

water! huuuua! what is it good for? absolutely nothing!

2018-07-06 22:06:40 UTC

lel

2018-07-06 22:06:41 UTC

Did someone spam the everyone @ earlier?

2018-07-06 22:06:41 UTC

i dunno if ownership is always "absolute". i think the limits start to appear when your ownership negatively affects other people's lives. if you buy a concert speaker system for your house and live in a neighborhood with other houses nearby, playing it full blast at 3am should probably be restricted somehow

2018-07-06 22:06:56 UTC

yes
