ah fair enough
And you get Al Capone on tax evasion
Instead of theft, murder etc
sorry, got a phonecall, im back
ok tbh i think its kinda counterproductive to assume you have to commit a crime while wearing the mask because the whole point of the mask is to make sure that you dont know which one committed the crime
Right but you can't criminalize masks
Or being in a group
it strikes me as more productive to make some kind of law that pools the crime on anyone who refuses to take off the mask knowing that other people wearing it are committing crimes
like if you're a "law abiding citizen" you should be able to see a violent mob and be like "im not having any of that"
Right but what's the expected procedure for someone who finds their self in a violent mob that attacks dissenters?
With the healthcare situation, I just think it should be affordable for everyone. When people are forced to decide whether to pay the electric bill or the medical bill, something's gone wrong.
Reminds me of that one antifa who had his mask pulled off and then another one hit him with a skateboard when he tried to rejoin his side
well i suppose in such a mob, you either have a mask or you dont, and if you do then you probably have enough freedom to get to the edge, take it off and get out of there
Right but the idea you proposed would charge those who weren't successful
And would basically be based on presumption of intent
wait you've confused me a bit
weren't successful in doing what?
Bailing out on the mob
why would it do that?
excuse me if this seems obvious, not my best day
yes
Okay, what are the parameters for that?
You all got arrested and had masks on while someone was committing crimes?
sorry if im missing it, but as i understand what is described, you are in a mob that's committing crimes, you don't take off your mask and then you get arrested for it
It could require proof that you were wearing the mask with the intent to cover up for other crimes
I hope for the day where online journalists stop using clickbait
such as being a member of a group that does that(not just being in the mob) or having openly discussed such tactics
it wouldn't be easy to prosecute, but there would be some easy cases
and could dissuade many from such tactics
i mean tell me if this sounds a little too authoritarian (im not known for that but im tired and not thinking best) but i wouldn't exactly avoid legislation that prohibits masks in these circumstances
@missdanger How do you get people to watch otherwise though
i think saying "you cant just make masks illegal" in these circumstances is tantamount to saying "you cant stop people from yelling fire"
It's actually not illegal to shout fire in a crowded building
oh yikes
Oh boy are we getting back to fire in a crowded theatre?
@Deleted User memes
the court case that example comes from decided against it being illegal
I love this one
what do you mean "back to"?
It's a common example
