it was a republican that wrote the 13th amendment
it was a republican that freed the slaves
Going through the list.
well that was inevitable with pressures from the brit empire increasing navy presence - but werent there some against it? some republicans and some democrats?
I think it was more economy based rather than a partisan issue
And Id imagine they differed on reason
liberation of the slaves was totally a strategical move, not a moral one.
at least in the US
What was the strategy behind that?
I can easily see the moral part.
But Id like to know what was the strategy
for the abolishionists it was totally moral
steal all their workers
encourage uprisings
but sure it was both and inevitable
make slaves more willing to join the north
Ah I see that
so might as well use it to your advantage
destabilizes the Souths whole economy and gives you an influx of soldiers
*oooooooooooh*
I don't think there were really that many black regiments thiugh
there were a few
*Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord*
Still, one less worker for the south
so perhaps the goal but not sure of actual impact
And a potential recruit for the north
*He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored*
Though I dont think the average american north or south would be okay with that
Is that a kid as a drummer?
*He hath loosed the fateful lightning from his terrible swift sword*
*His truth is marching on*
really the help in destabilizing the economy, encouraging rebellion and making the North more welcomed as liberators than invaders was probably greater than the soldier aspect
***Glory, glory, hallelujah!***
and the moral high road don't forget that
Yeah I get that now. Damn, that makes alot of sense as a strategic option as well.
that was how they sold the population on it
And the fact that it can be used as a moral choice is a bonus
just like hte war on drugs
