calling gender a social construct can be accurate but people throwing that term around don't really understand what that means

It is infuriating, people seem to think education in a subject makes you well-versed on it. A huge percentage of people have decent education in history, but only a small amount of them can actually connect events in a way that isn’t just the regurgitation of facts.

Passing grade does not require a strong understanding

Yeah, doesn’t mean they aren’t going to shout down at you from their high horse when you suggest that there were more causes to the US civil war than just slavery. They act like the most boiled down version of information is all they need and to argue is wasting time.

Also on the subject of education, we live in the age of the internet

Exactly, it’s the reason why I love the internet. Unfortunately, you cant display much intelligence when all someone uses is 200 words or less.

But the Twitter culture claimed him and now I just get depressed if I go on it because of how much the media distracts him because of it

I literally just reassembled my computer to say that I have never heard a rant I could agree with more.

I do want to add: Eugene Gu is actually pretty infamous as an activist. Gu is hardly a mere bystander. He's a socio-political influencer and a hero on the left. There's a reason he was at the top of the twitter feed.
