he said an "unnamed candidate" if i remember correctly
like i said, not directly, but pretty close.
its not on record tho
really i saw bloomberg as left leaning
i have some ex co workers that work there i can ask them
Isn't Bloomberg a Democrat himself?
idk
probs
It is impossible for the democrats to get 2/3rds of the senate because not that many seats are up for reelection in 2018. Trump cannot be removed from office unless his own party turns against him.
well ... so was trump... a democrat i mean
And if his own party turns against him... wew lad
Trump was a democrat
but then trump woke up
and backstabbed hilldawg
Among Republicans Trump is massively popular. Overwhelming support for him regardless of any scandals.
@wacka Bloomberg is *not* Trump-leaning.
Bloomberg flips parties every couple elections. He started as a Democrat but switched to Republican before he was elected mayor (during the heavy R wave following 9/11) but then switched to independent partway through. Currently he's thrown in his hat to run against Trump in 2020 as a Democrat.
Mostly Bloomberg is a true aristocrat. He's worth billions and banned soda in NYC and has pushed regressive taxation to control behavior. Now he's known mostly for pushing gun control via Everytown (which he's bankrolling).
So any Republican senator voting to impeach him would be committing political suicide.
this seems pretty fair tbh https://twitter.com/BloombergTV/status/1032017669933780992?s=20
watching the vid meow 🐱
I dunno about Mueller staying out of this; wasn't this started because they seized all his office records and had him under pressure for some scam with taxi medallions? Pretty sure Mueller will do anything he can to try to take down Trump.
@wacka that does seem to be a neutral assesment
i have some lefties on my fb getting boners over this shit im lol'ing
yea lots of people are wanking to this
It's purely an emotional reaction. There is no logic to this obsession with impeaching Trump. They do not have the votes to remove him from office and the best they can hope to achieve is to have the house impeach him, which does fuck all as seen from Clinton.
Actually, it likely backfires.
It only makes sense if the democrats believe they need to focus on Trump as a distraction from their own internal problems. I mean, other than screeching about Trump what else do democrats have policy-wise to convince people to vote for them.
I know the DNC doesn't want to have a conversation about what happened with the nomination and reforming the superdelegate system
And they definitely don't want people talking about their deputy chair being a woman beater
And then there's that "how are we going to pay for that" question that they'd rather people not ask.
So in light of that keeping the focus on Trump makes sense. Without him they'd have to actually grapple with their faults.
It causes the Republican base to rally (unless something real and serious is used to impeach Trump).
Impeaching Clinton caused his popularity to *spike*
https://news.gallup.com/poll/116584/Presidential-Approval-Ratings-Bill-Clinton.aspx
Impeachment charges were laid in December. The Republicans made it look like a partisan witchhunt and it backfired.
@Atkins
Strategically, all the Dems need to do is rally against Trump. That's it. No need to lay policy. No need to distract from anything. Just get the base really, really angry at Trump so they show up to vote.
Oh yeah. It was utterly pointless. The impeachment process is really, really difficult because it's only meant to be used for the gravest of offenses.
I dont' even think it shoulda been used on Clinton
The Democrat leadership is playing it smart when they float the idea of impeachment but never actually move forward with it. It ignites the imaginations of the base but doesn't distract them from more important matters or become a rallying point. It also keeps them from having to actually publicly declare what they have against Trump.
They also certainly remember what happened in 1998.
Yeah, makes sense. The Republicans are doing a really shitty job of countering it too.
I think they all hate Trump
Oh yeah, 90% of them.
And their voters LOVE Trump.
