Working from home, thought I'd see what discord is all about

Generally

Used it for about 6 hours last year to chat about tennis

The /r/tennis discord is full of people arguing constantly

Hoping this is less vitriolic

A good example being those babies in China who had gene therapy

The absolute worst case scenario for these technologies is that they're developed in somewhere like China, Russia or North Korea

Designer babies are the first step

And if they're made legal in one part of the world and not the rest, you'll get genetic tourism by the wealthy

And eventually you'll get abuse of the technology by governments

Individuals will be born and groomed to be dictators, who also happen to be 7 foot tall, predisposed to being incredibly intelligent and muscular, immune to every disease known to man, and generally have near perfect health, allowing them to outlive most other humans by 10-20 years

I wouldn't put it past Chinese or Russian dictators, or (American billionaires) to grow clones of themselves, allow them to live until age 20, and then murder and harvest all their organs

That sort of thing seems incredibly likely

Perfect blood type match too. Life extension is already thought to be possible by regular transfusions of much younger blood

Right-wing means less identity politics, left wing actually cares about the environment

I do actually vote left in the UK, but it's always a difficult call, and our right doesn't care about men's rights either

Yeah there isn't really a political home for left leaning men's rights advocates in a lot of countries

Seems like a closely related issue to men's rights

Since a lot of change that we'd like to see is political

Religion I get, but politics is a vehicle for changing social attitudes and opinions

Can we make suggestions for the discord? Would the mods consider adding a #politics chat room? That way any arguing would be contained and people that wish to discuss it could do so
