2019-01-12 21:24:12 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Hi!

2019-01-12 21:24:37 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Pretty good

2019-01-12 21:24:38 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

You?

2019-01-12 21:25:31 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

recently found about this place through r/mensrights, found the website nice

2019-01-12 21:28:16 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I'm new to this community, recently found it

2019-01-12 21:29:05 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

that too, yeds

2019-01-12 21:35:00 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

to put it simply, i'm a teenager. i was a full-on communist before. used to agree with feminists and such. also used to browse r/inceltears sometimes. Found out about this sub called r/MGTOW. lurked a bit through and it kind of opened a new window to me. I found statistics that I couldn't before imagine, and heard other mens' stories where they had their lives unfairly ruined through things like false accusations. This definetly changed my viewpoint on the situation. Found r/mensrights, and after a few days lurking that I found this place.

2019-01-12 21:36:15 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I will admit that I am also scared for myself as these are all things that could happen to me, my friends, or anyone

2019-01-12 21:36:49 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

I didn't realise how much men were actually discriminated until this week, and it definetly changed my beliefs.

2019-01-12 21:37:30 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Hey!

2019-01-12 21:39:48 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

well said

2019-01-12 21:40:52 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i think a lot of people, especially teenagers, will eventually find out about men's rights through things like this

2019-01-12 21:41:27 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

from my experience, some of these were things I thought of but told myself were fake cause the feminists said it can't be right

2019-01-12 21:43:32 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

the way i see it, a big thing that keeps people from these ideas is the negativity surrounding it

2019-01-12 21:43:44 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

everyone remotely related to men's rights is automatically named an "incel"

2019-01-12 21:46:10 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Thank you for the welcome

2019-01-12 21:46:20 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

yeah seriously, they managed to demonize the word "incel" completely

2019-01-12 21:47:05 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

today in a thread i've seen someone be called an incel because they said that equality of opportunity is what we should go for and feminism doesn't want that

2019-01-12 21:47:48 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

The comments in that thread give me a bit of hope

2019-01-12 21:49:55 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@blueorange22 now they just say "haha found the incel" whenever they've been proven wrong

2019-01-12 21:51:58 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

never seen it anywhere, so i guess not

2019-01-12 21:52:08 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

may i have a link of the one you're talking about?

2019-01-12 21:54:07 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

lol post that on reddit and they will downvote it, claiming it to be bigoted, sexist and made by a nazi

2019-01-12 21:58:22 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

how do you access archived versions again?

2019-01-12 22:00:23 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

why did they remove this lol

2019-01-12 22:03:49 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

a lot of comments on r/science have unsourced comments, don't they?

2019-01-12 22:03:59 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i've never seen those get removed

2019-01-12 22:07:37 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

is there any chance that a media outlet will actually make a story on this?

2019-01-12 22:16:28 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

god, a friend of mine is arguing that the wage gap is a thing

2019-01-12 22:28:49 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

now he's saying that because women take maternity leave when they have kids, that makes it unfair as they somehow dont get the same opportunity as men to advance in careers

2019-01-12 22:30:38 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

now he says i talk like a trump supporter

2019-01-12 22:30:38 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

lol

2019-01-12 22:34:57 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

omfg

2019-01-12 22:35:13 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

now he's arguing that BOTH the wife AND husband get MANDATORY leave at children

2019-01-12 22:36:49 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

we talked about it but he gave me some random bullshit about "capitalism's fault"

2019-01-12 22:37:59 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

yup.

2019-01-12 22:38:07 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

glad didnt get indoctrinated into communism

2019-01-12 22:39:01 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

he simply said that "Both parents should be paid WAY MORE to sit on their asses all day taking care of their kids."
I asked "And where should the government get this money from?"
Him: Revolution!!!

2019-01-12 22:39:31 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

look, i still favour marxist theory, as it is based on the principle of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"

2019-01-12 22:39:35 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

basically meritocracy

2019-01-12 22:39:44 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

modern communists are just edgy liberals

2019-01-12 22:41:23 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

well the basis would be that the ones who work harder have better life conditions than the ones who don't

2019-01-12 22:49:54 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

oh god i'll tell him that and he'll just call me an incel

2019-01-12 22:52:39 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

by the way, what's your takes on this?

computer jobs are currently very sought for. but, in around 3-4 years, most kids (who already are aiming for said job) will take that job, and thus lower the demand for it, thus lowering pay significantly.

Is it a sound job and I'm being paranoid or is it a possibility?

2019-01-12 22:54:58 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i'm talking about general jobs like technicians and programmers. things that currently exist now and are in very high demand

2019-01-12 22:57:35 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

A very interesting take on that. Thank you

2019-01-12 22:57:58 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

So you're saying that, technically, computer jobs like programming, etc. will always be in high demand due to technological advances

2019-01-12 22:59:40 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

my original career plan was going to law school then becoming a lawyer

2019-01-12 22:59:49 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

that job makes solid cash

2019-01-12 23:02:17 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

lol. with a human-like robot, capable of intelligence, wouldn't we have the level of automation to the point that humans are very loosely needed?

2019-01-12 23:02:47 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

probably will in the next few years

2019-01-12 23:03:26 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

the more feminism makes its take on society and legislature, the more men will realize the harm done by it.

2019-01-12 23:05:17 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i'm sure many mainstream youtubers would be sympathetic of the MRM if it had more attention

wasn't it Bill Burr who got fined 80k because he made an offensive joke?

2019-01-12 23:10:11 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

nevermind, it was Mike Ward

2019-01-12 23:10:25 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

nevertheless. in canada, you can actually get fined for making a joke

2019-01-12 23:11:08 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

or for "misgendering" people

2019-01-12 23:11:13 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

imagine if that catches on instead

2019-01-12 23:15:53 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

thats fucking ridiculous

2019-01-12 23:16:01 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

what did they even charge him for

2019-01-13 17:18:11 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

well, let's see the positive side. men no longer have to pay more

2019-01-13 17:28:31 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

comments on it are great though.

This. You've seen that post on r/mensrights?

2019-01-20 20:38:31 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

scary that "innocent until proven guilty" is now a controversial view to take

2019-01-20 20:54:11 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

While I can definetly see how a victim may feel hopeless when people don't believe them, I think it is nevertheless important to mantain the value of "innocent until proven guilty". If our government can punish us without evidence of wrongdoing, what stops them from doing this everywhere else?

2019-01-20 20:54:47 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Not to mention how, on the opposite side of the story, where someone has been falsely accused, having your life ruined and being put in jail by a liar is a very traumatizing experience.

check out my english teacher

"Today we'll be discussing the topic of human rights (in a language learning class). I'll try to stay away from politics as it's not the topic for this class."

First picture, sized as one of the biggest: Modern feminist march in the streets

2019-02-11 21:23:09 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i dont think there's a dude in my class who didn't

2019-02-11 21:23:20 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

they're all my friends & i spoke with all of them

2019-02-12 17:24:30 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@blueorange22 an MRM club wouldn't really start off and would probably get a lot of hate as it is

my approach to teaching people about these issues is discussing them separately and getting people to separately agree with what i'm saying. then, after they're familiar with the topic, get them familiarised with the MRM itself.

Some friends are receptive with this, but it's nevertheless hard to get the common idea of "women are oppressed by society" out of their heads

2019-02-12 17:25:16 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i have a friend who i could probably introduce to this movement though. anti-feminist in general

2019-02-12 17:27:16 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

a useful approach is just to joke about feminism, then delve in how they're wrong and how men actually have problems, and then go on from there

2019-02-12 17:30:54 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

and keep in mind that some things will seem outrageous to people who aren't familiar with the topic itself. start gradually, introducing easily provable facts and statistics and then delving deeper into other concepts later. Starting with topics that go against your average social values will make you look like a conspiracy theorist and will put them off

2019-02-12 17:35:38 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

and be careful when showing statistics like these. feminists will absolutely change the subject to men being more violent than women, and then present it as proof for "toxic masculinity"

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/512584678314606613/544934616860065833/unknown.png

2019-02-12 17:42:11 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

@Men Are Human what exactly would you write about?

2019-02-12 17:58:10 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

i can give my own opinion on the topic, though as explained above, I haven't introduced any of them to the MRM, only gradually introduced them to certain issues that men face. asking them to give quotes for an article they don't know much about might be off-putting to them.

2019-02-12 18:10:26 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

To summarize, my english teacher is a lesbian feminist who's very engaged in both the LGBT community and the feminist community. While I have absolutely no problem with the first, the latter can get on some nerves as she definetly pressures it.

We were in English class (not an english speaking country, supposed to be language learning), before starting, she specifically said that she will try to keep this away from politics to the best of her ability. We had the new topic of "human rights". We were given sheets of paper of different human rights articles, and we had to read them, so on. Later, she turns on the projector and a few images are on screen. The largest sized one was a (fairly recent) picture of feminists marching in the streets

2019-02-12 18:11:39 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

The second most prominent one was a Black Lives Matter protest. (very political, no need to say)

2019-02-12 18:12:41 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Also very largely sized, was a picture of the feminist logo (โ™€๏ธ with a = in the middle)

2019-02-12 18:14:26 UTC [Men's Human Rights #lounge]

Me and a friend of mine complained about how she was promoting feminism. He went on a very short discussion which ended up to the pay gap. The teacher said that she can discuss that later, when she can show some statistics. She then proceeded with the class as normal. The discussion itself never continued during or after the lesson.
