Yeah those damn snowflakes amirite, bunch lefties having a meltdown
Meh thats your opinion and one I have no reason to value as of yet @Mcgoober
Americans nowadays are taxed consideeeerably more by the U.S than the British
No argument there @VulpesVulpes
But I'd be foolish not to mention that Americans are taxed without representation
@VulpesVulpes Not all Americans do tho
@DarkSkyKEC I was refering to those living in Washington D.C. or those blocked from voting through suppression
Predominantly in the south @Mcgoober
Predominantly minority voters @DarkSkyKEC
@VulpesVulpes I'll back that
Because its predominantly minority voters don't have an ID, the laws are put into place specifically to target minority voters
@KingZapapple I've not called America oppressive once?
At the end of the day its just pragmatic @VulpesVulpes
I like your argument, I recognise the fact that its predominantly minoriyies affected by voter ID laws and that makes me view minorities with a "very low look". Great logic
@isoboto i never called you stupid but if thats what you think about yourself im not gonna argue
...ok?
So you ask for me to tell you how yet reject anything I show you?
Is he like this with everyone ? @VulpesVulpes
Wait wait wait
Lemme just establish
Are you saying the south hasnt participated in voter suppression or voter suppression isnt a reason to talk shit
Why is that? @Mcgoober
No... its because of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which imposed regulation on elections @Mcgoober
They didnt
The federal government imposed it on them to much southern protest and coincidentally as the commission to regulate these elections to ensure they dont suppress voters was undone... the south began imposing voter suppression laws again... in fact Texas implemented new voting laws the day the regulation was undone
Yes, the law was undone,, thats what changrd @mikeflarkin
Thats a bit of a stupid question @Mcgoober
Are you familiar with Jim Crow laws?
@Mcgoober Allow me to finish my argument
These laws although designed to target minorities didnt explicitly say they targetted minorities
Now these laws were undone ofc
But to say that a law has to explicitly state a racial intent is stupid
It can be oppression to white people however it affects minorities more
Take gerrymandering, if you are a white man republican packed into a predominantly black democratic constituency your vote has been thus suppressed and you've been oppressed
Wait wait wait
You don't know what gerrymandering is?
Or do you mean constituency?
Oh jfc
You could of told me I was talking to an idiot @VulpesVulpes
I thought everyone here was political
Aaaahhh touche
Ik you're making a joke but you really should actually research things...
It was in the article I first posted amongst other things beside ID laws, you chose to focus on ID laws @Mcgoober
Again I never claimed otherwise @isoboto
Bottom line is if you don't know what gerrymandering is maybe you're not in a position to say voter suppression doesnt exist
Cool
So the south has voter suppression?
@VulpesVulpes I like you, idk your political beliefs but you're pragmatic and I respect that
@isoboto Vulpes and I said that IDs should be free and not require a trip to the DMV, I dont see how thats undermining voter ID laws and making voting less secure?
@VulpesVulpes I'm the same, I'm rightwing by a British standard, I'm pro monarchy, pro military etc but socially I'm heavily left
Thats really not how it works @Mcgoober
Theres not great southern strategy to stop every minority voting
Frankly its not really to do with race
The reason voter suppression is used to target minorities predominantly is because they massively support democrats more rather than republicans
In the past it was the reverse
Idk man you've been arguing with him for the past hour so you must care for some reason
Cool, thanks for seceding @Mcgoober
Shit, conceding*
@VulpesVulpes I'll take a mental note
I used to have very different political beliefs then I lost a bunch of arguments without realizing I lost them and only when i looked back i realized how much of an idiot i was
Eh what
I mean give Obama credit, in many sectors of the economy it rose at the same or similar trends that it did during the Trump years
I don't agree with every economic decision Obama made infact I oppose a lot of it but credit where credits due, Trump didnt wave a wand and fix the economy
@yeahmyrealnameright can you people not get triggered by everything jfc
I would hope police are reluctant to shoot anyone...
Yes because thats very free isnt it... @2Lazy2BeOriginal
Do you only deal in absolutes? @Nightenhelser it wont get you far
I personally have no desire to live in a world where you are expected to comply under threat of death from state enforcers. Lets say you refuse to wear a mask, do you need to be shot? @Nightenhelser
"Police shoot if you dont comply" was the statement made @Nightenhelser
I'm dealing in what people say @Nightenhelser
He said that, i didnt say what you accused me of, theres a difference, learn it
Great observation skills?
I think that shows exactly how its unfair to say black people should just "comply" with police @isoboto
Sorry @isoboto, people including @2Lazy2BeOriginal were specifically saying black people earlier
Im not a leftist @Nightenhelser
@2Lazy2BeOriginal also nah its cool things often get lost in text
I completely agree, police arent actively targertting blacks but blacks are often disproportionately affected, I don't think thats the fault of the police rather society in my opinion
Compliance with authority is definitely a great way to not die however I wouldnt say thats an ideal world to live in
Personally I dont believe police reform will do anything without social reform
Theres a reason police violence disproportionately affects minorities and im sorry to say it is because minorities disproportionately commit crime, they are not naturally inclined to they are simply in the poor social and economic condition which lead to crime. Until these socioeconomic issues are challenged police reform will only have minimal impact
This person complied, didnt commit the crime and got assaulted by police... how does that fit into your argument? @yeahmyrealnameright
Its because minorities are predominantly in poor social and economic conditions, the link between crime and socioeconomics is proven regardless of race or ethnicity
@yeahmyrealnameright if the system you strive for is imperfect how can you be surprised when people affected by these flaws complain?
@𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉 um... do you know where that Johnson quote came from?
@𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉 I was meaning the "n*ggas" quote
Do you know where it comes from?
Not Johnson lmao
No, theres literally no proof of anyone saying
The quote is from a flight attendent who said she heard johnson say it 30 years prior
Its really an unreliable quote and most likely a fabrication
I really entirely disagree with that @𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉
Black poverty was common far before the civil rights era
There was already an income gap @𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉
You cant segregate a people, deny them of equal opportunities for work and *expect* them to earn the same as you when you are unimpeded
Do they though?
Many african americans are centred in cities which demand high costs of living whilst often providing little pay @𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉
