Yeah
Try just writing all of this out. I've found with my stories with complicated magical systems/lore that writing out all the pros, cons, and aspects to them can really help you understand them and what they can and can't do and then when you are actually writing you don't have to figure it out
~~i still need to do that for one of my stories~~
I'm down!

Question for anyone:
What would your response be if your cousin disappeared one day wearing a certain outfit and you found his body four days later badly mutilated by dragons (you can't recognize his face) but wearing a completely different outfit and when you go check his room you don't find either one of those outfits in his closet but some of his other things are missing, namely spellbooks. No one has gone in that room besides his mother and she didn't take anything out. Note: there would be no feasible reason for your cousin to have hidden clothes in the woods, and nobody saw him come back to change. Both outfits were indeed his.
What would you assume happened?
asking because I'm trying to figure out a reasonable reaction for a character who experiences this and I want to see how easy it is for anyone to piece together and if I should make what happened a little more obvious
Okay, that was my characters first reaction too but I'm trying to figure out how she would figure out what happened next
Oh! that actually fits perfectly
I just needed her to go the spot where they found his body, so I guess it's not important that she knows exactly what happened yet
Do you guys want to know what actually happened?
Someone faked his death and he's still alive
okay
hopefully it all goes well
Alright, I wanted her to investigate but I wasn't sure if it would make sense to immediately jump to the conclusion that he's still alive
Also, it has been about three months since his "death"
His body was found four days after he disappeared, and she did attend the funeral and went through the stages of grief (she was on denial for a long time) but she really believed the body was his
But strange things had been happening in the town during the past three months and she has a feeling something is wrong (though she thinks it's unrelated to her cousin's death) but she has dreams over and over again of the moment right before she disappeared and it takes her three months to realize that he was wearing different outfits, so she decides to check his room (which hasn't been opened in three months because his mother needed a lot of time to grieve before doing anything or letting anyone do anything with his stuff) to see if she was imagining anything and she finds that those two outfits are both missing from the closet, his spellbooks are missing, and someone has been in the room very recently
she's also a bit of a coward so it took her awhile to work up the courage to go check his room
Yeah she was
The one he disappeared in was one that he didn't usually wear and the one he was found in was one that he wore a lot
NO PLEASE
NOOOOOOOOOO
thank you
i know lol
Okay. That was the other thing. I wonder if she should realize they were different outfits a lot sooner but was afraid to do anything about it because she is a little bit of a coward but then when weird stuff starts happening in the town she decides to really investigate it
They have one photograph of their entire family but it was taken a year before the events of the story
THey had to travel to a big city to get it taken
He was doing this certain activity when he disappeared and he usually wore this specific outfit while doing it but the day he disappeared he was wearing something out of the ordinary to "shake things up"
So the clothes his "body" was found in would be what they would have expected him to be wearing
But his cousin remembered he wasn't wearing them
the people who faked his death were smarter than that
They used his own clothes
He was interferring in their plans to take over the town and they want him dead, but he ran away before they could get to him. So now they're currently tracking him down to kill him but it is more complicated than they expected
Also, he doesn't realize his death has been faked
He also doesn't realize people are trying to kill him
He placed a spell on himself that went out of hand and he's trying to find a magician to remove it
That is a valid point and I did take care of it, but explaining it would take a very long time
I think what I'll do is make it so that she noticed something was off with the clothes and she confides with her boyfriend (who unbeknownst to her is part of the group that faked her cousin's guess) and he tells her that he was wearing those clothes and she believes him and distrusts herself until she thinks about it more and more and works up the courage to check for herself
She knows about magic but she doesn't practice it. Plus, no magic was involved. One of the members of the group made a mistake that led to her cousin messing with their plans, and he's about the same build as her cousin, so they dressed him up in her cousin's clothes and fed him to a dragon, then claimed it had been her cousin
So the clothes are all torn and not much is left besides the bones
You'd better believe there's a lot of gaslighting!
@Lich King Dang, you have a lot written! That's awesome! I'll start reading it during breaks
I'm sorry to hear that, Drac, but way to make the best of it

yeAAH! I can finally start writing back in my original document instead of writing random scenes on their own trying to figure out what to do!
I actually have to get going now, maybe we can do another writing sprint together later tonight

Wow, you're on a roll!
Yeah
I'm writing the scenes out of order and am working on the one where she finds her cousin's body
wbu?
I'm more than halfway and I'm actually almost to the climax. The issue is, however, I had been working on the cousin's PoV (he's the main character, not his cousin) without working on hers because I already had his story all figured out but there are still a lot of kinks left in hers.
so he's almost at the end of his story but I can't procrastinate writing hers anymore because they're about to merge so I don't know how many words it will end up being
But honestly, I like long novels and 70,000 doesn't seem like a lot for one. Plus, I'm not really sure like there's anything I can cut, it all moves the story forward, so hopefully it keeps the reader's attention the entire time
Oh yeah? What's the plot? I love supernatural stuff
These are pictures I drew over a year ago right after the announcement of BotW 2. Still waiting for more info about it from Nintendo
Oh dang, sounds intense and like a good story. So are these the types of ghosts that can interact with the physical world then, or are there other ways that they're killing people?
Yikes, that is terrifying
And really sad
Nice! I love LoZ! (sadly, I've never played OoT but I really *really* want to)
That's gorgeous
Little brother asked me to draw him a hydra for his knockoff DnD game. It's really sketchy and our dog stepped on it, but I'm still proud of it
Thanks!

608 wordsโ that's impressive!
Yay! Most of these sprints were scenes that I did to try and get my creativity flowing and to get to know my characters but I didn't expect to keep any of them. And now, I think I finally am writing scenes that will actually make it into the book! (or the first draft, anyway)
๐
turns out writing a fantasy story with multiple PoV's, magic taboo, dragon attacks, and a manipulation of an entire society is hard to plan out
looooool
I had to write this out in order to keep it all straight
Leroy Alabaster is the main antagonist and probably the source of everyone's various problems in the book, even when it appears there's no one at fault
No joke, that's literally what I did lol
The only difference is that the problem Leroy created is actually pretty serious (unlike the rona) so it makes it even harder for people to deal with
yeah, I am so excited to write it all out
I gave one of the corrupt politicians the face of Nancy Pelosi
thank you
this is and forever will be my favorite description of the story
if i get put into the gulag for this story, i know it was the right thing to do <:KEK:795742276549607456>
