But the general trend as far as I understand it is that the generations alternate between conservative and liberal because teens tend to rebel against their parents when developing their political identity, then hold to it somewhat vigorously once formed, excluding the tendency to get somewhat more conservative when they get older.

There's a tendency now for political commentators to write books so that they can be brought onto shows to espouse their opinions under the guise of 'expert', qualified by the fact that they've written a book. Both sides are guilty of this.

well it's an honors course, so critical thinking *should* be rewarded, but I think the majority of the answer is the example rather than the premise that ignorance is like a prison. I think the best approach would be to point out not that ignorance has consequences, but rather that ignorance can *limit your personal freedoms* in some way, since the comparison is to a prison.

At the time, I was working full time and taking classes in the evening, so I didn't have time to research candidates, and I wasn't going to go to the poll to vote for JUST the presidential race. After the past four years, I'm just going to punch straight ticket for the first time.
