Yes. Now if these are true itinerant use channels and not exclusively licensed only to you in that area, you can pretty much just do what you want and not bother to update the license.
Business radio users never ID by callsign
Itinerant is one step above MURS and FRS and is similarly ignored it seems
Yeah for legit use itโs best to have all the details in order
If you go through the effort to do it at all, just do them all so you arenโt limited later. Thatโs why I mention adding Trbo as well.
A local radio shop went around doing updates for narrowbanding and they added narrow, trbo, NXDN, and maybe one other to everyoneโs license so they had the option to upsell them on whatever they could.
That same shop had a sales cunt there that tried to give me a hard time because I set up our dept radios and they didnโt make a penny off us. So after I left they took some radios to them and she tried to say I was illegally using a freq so they could charge them to remove it. I pulled up the license and showed them it was legit and pointed out it was them who did the license updates to allow it. Fucking sales people...
Yeah the majority of police comms are not encrypted. Many are analog in the clear including the biggest city on the east coast and others are increasingly going digital but still in the clear and that includes some federal comms.
> Can we listen to police scanners on this thing ๐
@[CA] SoyBoi a scanner is a type of radio, used to listen to many frequencies that it scans between looking for activity. You can do this with a bing fang too but be sure not to allow transmit on those freqs. Itโs illegal just to have them programmed into a radio without permission, let alone accidentally sit on your radio and transmit until the battery runs out or they track you down.
Anyone a wizard with 7.3l powerstrokes?
@[VA] JediComms that base station has a unity in it? I found a guy in Oregon with a cheap unity mobile but heโs a dumb cbโr and wonโt ship it. Got it from an ex-railroad police car he bought at salvage for the hemi engine.
Whatโs the equivalent to the coat hanger trick for a 10/22?
Yeah I want one. I might try calling the closest UPS store to that guy and arrange a drop off. See if I can send them a payment to hand him when he drops off the radio. Only wants like $250 for it with the good control head
Yeah pretty sure it has the same head
Even if it didnโt idgaf I just want a unity
> ... Why do you ask?
@Sparrow do I need a reason?
My only issue is being able to program trunked systems for monitoring. I wonder if there is any hacks like there are for Motorola
I was told even an older radio like a 7100 has blocks in the software for major trunked systems like Ohio marcs
Ham antennas are a legit joke. I bought a comet dual band that was rated at 250W and proceeded to melt it in half while driving and talking on my 100W radio.
How else do you forecast without models? Weathermen do it every day on the news
Nobody claims they are 100% accurate so the rebuttal is moot
Plenty do because thats all they have/can afford/know how to use but they are the quality of kids toys and have a shitty ui.
> Yeah, there really isn't enforcement of the radio laws
@EDDSkitz quite a few NALs get sent out by the FCC for dumb shit. They donโt prosecute, they fine...and heavily.
> That guy was licensed, being dumb, and refused to stop multiple times... not even close to what we're talking about, and SUPER rare.
@EDDSkitz Anyone including Business is allowed to use FRS...Walmart used to until they discovered MURS.
Jazz cabbage
> Low chance of getting caught channels
@[TX]YimYam#7341 the vhf channels at the top are murs and are free and clear for anyone. The uhf channels are FRS, same deal...free to use by anyone. And are all missing a 5 at the end of the freq in this chart. And yeah donโt TX on the weather channels. No emergency freqs in that list.
