Most people know the nuts and bolts of their armies and the game rules after a few games under their belt

The game scales, you can play a 3 hour game at 2000 points a side, or a small hour long rumble for 500 points a side

they're both fun

If you want a super easy intro they make $85 boxes that include everything you need to begin an army of any given faction

They work at about 500 points or so

If you want a cheap intro to 40k and want full games on a budget with models you can use in full games you might wanna look at Kill Team or Shadow War
