Yes. The massive wall street failure gave way to a lot of anger and resentment from lower and middle classes who lost everything. Not to mention the utter collapse of the US manufactoring industry. People rushed to more radical groups that could promise them what they wanted
People begin to seek justice and someone to blame when such a crisis happens. The rift in society began to develop
During the 2000s when the economy was good and people were stable such divisions were not present except for fringe groups
@Fitzydog to me the left right divide tends to go along the line, who do you trust more? Yourself or the government?
Economically speaking I would say, it's where should the money be? In the hands of the people, or the government
Both sides try to lure the lower classes, however it's true that progressives and socialists are generally more successful, especially in the more blue collar environmemts. However what happens when they fail to deliver? This is where we are at. The lower classes feel betrayed by the left who failed to give them their jobs back, and flock to the right and populist movements who promise action, mostly at the detriment of immigrants.
You are right to point out that the old lines of left and right are changing
The question is, whether this is the new precedent, or simply a phase of political history
Of course, but this phase of the radicalisation of ideas could die out once both fail
It depends, constitutions define a country, but sometimes they have to be ammended with time to fit in with the new times
The US is generally conservative
Well the US has a form of government which hasn't changed much in over 200 years with the exception of allowing more sectors of its population to vote
It's time for change then
*reign*?
Well having more people vote means a larger representation of their interests
Instead of having the country run by elites
Not lowering it, I don't think that's a good idea
Lowering it further than it already is that is
Because life expectancies were shorter
Because by 70 you would be on your way to the grave
Having such high childbirth deaths that it skews the life expectancy doesn't make it any better
It shows a lack of proper medical treatment available
It wasn't meant to that is true
But it is now, and it has to adapt
It's not a real democracy because half your government is bought off by corporations. A system which hasn't changed and adapted
They are **a** problem but not *the* problem
An old and outdated system of representation and election, massive gaps in equality, large social divides, an economy which is selling out to foreign production hubs etc... of course the massive lobbying of companies are another huge problem
@DanConway small gaps although morally bad aren't a problem, it is however when they become massive. Nowadays the gap between thr poor and the rich is ever growing, making it more and more impossible for the lowest to reach the highest. Social mobility is the sign of a healthy economy but with larger gaps in income and wealth this disappears.
@Deleted User dude stop
@DanConway refrigerators once a luxury are now a commodity. The income imequality refers mostly to the difference between the income the lower classes have vs the rise in prices. Not only that, but these wages are falling or not adjusting to price increase effectively making them poorer
Not to mention of course the precarity od labour nowadays
@Fitzydog having a higher top isn't bad unless it's at the expense of the low, which is the case
@Fitzydog an example that comes to mind was the wall street before the crash
Looking for other sources too. However much of the manufactoring that outsource workers and entire plants, or companies that lower wages to increase profit margins
M8 what?
@DanConway I have to agree with you there as well, globalisation is mostly at fault for the decline and stagnation of economies, particularly of the US
@Fitzydog Also in reference to your Median earnings chart, you can see that as of late they are stagnating, and unless you compare those numbers to inflation, they mean nothing 😕
yes, which is what I was talking about earlier yes
Give the natives their land back! 😛
What
@SuperNigger Why do you count me in with them?
I was not
yeh, Warrior saw that I was here and came tagging half your server

I think that is the point. Most left wing parties and groups adopt the colour red as a form as associating themselves with workerrs' movements
Where did you get this one from, because on the website there are several
Because this may not be the Labour Manifesto
I'm referring to Generalissimo, since I didn't get that result by following the link you provided
It would take a high authority or influential imam to reform it
But it it were to follow the same way Europe went down, there would be an inevitable war between Shiites, Sunnis and reformers
Yes I had that, but without the sickle and hammer
ah
and also the communist party part
ok
oof
It's quite a statement to make after the recent allegations of anti-semitism within the party
What did he do?
Ah the Kingdom of Hungary
Nice pic of the northern Ottoman territories
Lmao lego trump
Not thicc enough tho
You guys debated about not having a debate
For a solid hour no less
Though the fire was intentional, California is going through longer and tougher droughts which is a direct consequence of climate change.
Such droughts make it easier for fires to propagate and become uncontrollable
And obviously it becomes harder to put them out as water reserves in lakes are dangerously low
@Arthur When people seize the means of production that is communism, not socialism. Socialism would be where the state seizes them
@Broo TulsiGang 2024 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 what were they protesting?

It's basically inconclusive
Lmao
Pink polo bro
That's where it's at
... you expect him to be serious? He's obviously lying to get some sympathy points
Which just backfires because we know he's lying and makes him look like an absolute idiot
Public transport should be state regulated in my opinion
It purpose is to serve the population, and is pretty much a necessity of large metropolitan areas.
Shouldn't be an instrument of profit
It should be a public good maintained with regulated ticket prices and taxpayer money (for those that live in urban environments)
That is outrageous
When you privatise public goods, it tends to be good for a while, but in the long run it always ends up failing
Not really, it takes a month to get something delivered.
I remember when I applied for a national insurance number that I got the letter for the appointment a WEEK after I had it
I mean it is a pretty sad story
These guys went on a journey to find the goodness of people
I think that laughing at them for what they did isn't necessary. Yeah, they were stupidly naive, but that was their way to see the world
*social housing*
Well football hooligans are more of a nuissance than benefit. They get wasted and trash the place with no regards to the locals
It's true though, there's a reason why coaches carrying footbal fans always go straight for the stadium
During the uefa and chamoions league finals there were a legitimate concerns for hooliganism with hundreds of police agents deployed, so the concern is understandable
``Edgy``
