Just look in the roll_call chat.
he goes from top down
Hmmm, sofar he's gone in order according to what I see.
Ah
Was just looking through the Live page on YouTube, the call in show is no where to be seen.
I was fortunate that they were being generous.
Yep
Question guys, it's only my 2nd call in. How'd I sound?
lol
Thanks
@Dangerous Spaces Thanks. For me I was more worried about if I've got gaps in my logic, tripping over my words. Stuff like that. How can I improve my delivery.
Alright, thanks. I just want to make the best use of my time on the show.
I'm gonna through my $0.02 in the ring. I haven't read MC's stuff, but from what I've gathered in the comments it's a draft of a bill that would require everyone to own and carry a firearm. If someone doesn't follow the law they are penalized with a monthly fine. That sounds suspiciously like obamacare. If one doesn't have health insurance they are penalized on their taxes. I know because that happened to me. I'm guessing this would be implemented on the federal level. It rings like a top down law forcing citizens to do something that they may or may not want to do. Forget who said it but I guess you can get out of the carry by paying to the government a couple hundred a month? I know I sure as hell couldn't afford that. I'd have to buy a cheap ass pistol with dubious reliability to stay within the law. That brings up another question. How do you expect everyone to go out and buy a firearm. That's going to artificially drive up demand, driving up prices, and perhaps pricing some people out of the market. You could theoretically enforce price caps, but that is a problem in itself. Is the government going to provide everyone with a gun so they can stay within the law?
This reminds me of something Cenk Uygur said. "Just Google it!"
And if your saying minorities are poor, I believe that is a racist statement in it self.
Title VI Elective Exemption B just blew my mind. Maybe I'm not reading it right but I have to pay $300 a month to have a Total restriction. Which is defined as "A person under a total restriction may not possess any item identifiable for use as a weapon." Maybe I'm wrong but is that, I pay the government $300/month to be banned from owning a weapon of any sort?
Ok, I'm out, hit the eject button and shit can this damn bill.
Title V Section 14 states "Section 14 Any person who willfully ignores any part of this act may be, upon first violation, fined not more than $1รร; Upon second and subsequent violations, $5รร. Upon fourth and subsequent violations, incarcerated not more than 2 years. This includes failure to carry as required, carrying as prohibited, and use of terminology contrary to this act."
That is so fucking authoritarian. Usually shit like that is drafted to take AWAY guns.
I'm all for people owning and carrying guns, but making it mandatory with some pretty heavy penalties or impossibly high ways of avoiding it is crazy. It's $3600.00 A YEAR to voluntarily avoid this shit.
If you can't avoid that, your looking at $300.00 fine and 2 years in prison
God, I hope no leftist gets ahold of this.
I guess I meant a leftist with actual power.
You know, I came on because I wanted to find out if part of our gun problem could be attributed to a decrease in exposure to guns by parents of kids. Where the only exposure is what is found in Movies, TV, video games, and the news.
Not to have my mind blown by something completely out of left field.
Well, if ya'll will give me a minute I'll type up my hypothesis if you want.
I am. Typing it up somewhere else.
I'm almost dne.
done
@Mandatory Carry Yah, I don't get to pay to not wear a seat belt, but I only pay the FINE once, and that's only when I get cought.
And when I make about 2k a month, 300 of that is not pretty small.
Once I take rent, car insurance, gas, truck payment, phone bill, food, and various miscilanious stuff.
@Legalize @A. Spader @uncephalized Here is my hyphothisis. "This is mostly based on my experience and what Iโve observed regarding my mom and step-dadโs raising of my little brother. I wasnโt exposed to firearms beyond tv, movies, and toys until I moved from my grandmaโs house to live with my dad. While living with my dad I shot various firearms, was given bb guns and taught gun safety using bb guns. I middle school for christmas I was given a russian bolt action rifle. He let me keep it in my room. When I moved out of my dadโs house to my Momโs house I had to let my Uncle hold on to the rifle for me. At the time my brother was 2 years old, so fair enough. Since moving to my Momโs house I have had no exposure to guns beyond either friends with guns or an organization that I was in during high school had a shooting range at their summer camp. My mom and stepdad have made no effort to educate me or my little brother on guns. Most of my firearm experience is either from my dad or self taught. Other than going shooting with my grandpa and uncle once or twice, my little brother, who is in middle school now, has had no exposure to firearms beyond tv, movies, toys, and video games. Iโve taken him to a gun store once, and plan on taking him to a range. Iโm sure I will double his practical exposure to guns on my own. I want to know is my experience representitve or not. Btw my mom and stepdad are middle class suborbonites."
My mom and dad never married.
Yah, I'm right there with you. And your not. It's fine.
Well, my mom had my brother after she married my stepdad.
His parents are still together.
And I didn't move into my mom's house until I was in high school. @A. Spader I was more wanting to know about how common is my story. And if the lack of practical exposure to guns is contributing to the gun control advocacy. Matt has said that those that advocate for gun control are usually uneducated about the subject. More go off their feelings.
My little brother has expressed interest in hunting.
Perhaps today's gun culture being more towards concealed/open carry is more due to the urbanization of America than anything else. Along with the crime rates in said urban areas.
Yah, I currently don't own a firearm, still live at home and mom doesn't want one in the house. But any I am looking at is mostly for cc/oc.
yuma, have you tried to convert your parents also?
@A. Spader open carry is iffy. It's baned in the denver metropolitan area. not sure about the municipalities I live/work in.
And fair point Spader. Congrats yuma!
I don't think my parents are antigun, however I'm not sure my little brother is quite responsible enough to be around a firearm unsupervised. I was always a bit more mature for my age. I think that's why my dad was fine with me having a gun in my room at his age.
Should see the pos I had to read earlier from MC. I doubt your's is longer.
*piece of shit
Hear hear man,
@[DGI]tech there isn't anything there I disagree with man. You've solidly hit the nail on the head.
That would be cool.
I've got a question for you guys. Should I bring up the declining exposure to guns by parents up as my topic for the next call in?
mhmm
I've got to find a way to pair it down though.
While hunting is part of it, I was more thinking guns in general. My dad never took me hunting, but he did teach me to shoot.
yah
Alright.
What about "What are you thoughts on the idea that urbanization and the decrease in 2 parent households have increased a lack of exposure of guns to kids contributing to the general ignorance of firearms and the calls for gun control among America's youth?"
Thanks for the stimulating conversation guys. I've got to get some dinner and then sleep. Take care ya'll.
@Mandatory Carry My point was that yes, I don't pay to not wear my seat belt. They also come standard in all cars due to law/regulation. I don't have to go out and buy one for every car I drive. And if the car is old enough and it doesn't have a seat belt, it's exempt. There is no burden placed on me to follow seat belt laws other than simply using what is built into the equipment I bought. I would HAVE TO buy a handgun, shotgun, and a long gun on my own to not be a criminal.
Your original question was can I pay to not wear my seat belt correct? Your right on that. I expanded on that. I'm not going to allow myself to be lead by the nose. I have a suspicion that you are using that to set me up for some got you statement or question.
My job involves driving and working on cars every day.
In Colorado Springs.
