What's up with doomer being a 4 year gap. Just for the meme?
@KingInTheHead you mean baby daddy
I'm lookin for some advice--shit posting or serious--on how to find a place to live with a community building atmosphere. I'll be finished paying off all my debts next month, am single, under 30, and looking to have more quiet time and interpersonal connection with a more humble crowd than cities tend to offer. I have a remote job so as long as the place has decent internet it's fair game.
Do I just throw a camper top on my truck and road trip around the country or what?
Christian values I guess?
Fuck if I know dude I grew up in NY
The land of the secular cunts
I'm open to going to church well leave it there
I feel like I'm too egotistical to join a cult
Would need to start one
Who says it's based on a lie
Not everyone is full on thumper when they start going to church
That's kinda the point to going to church
Then splain me
Solid word of caution
I mean I can meet Jesus by myself tbh
I assume the point of the congregation is the other people
Not the Bible
Maybe before people knew how to read it was different?
I mean I don't mind being an idiot but it would be nice to know how I'm being an idiot so I can ramp it up
If you would indulge
I grew up Episcopalian so we don't really Bible all that good with out gay bishops
๐คทโโ๏ธ The way she goes I guess
Wtf is this emoji splitting
Where's my unicode
Fuck it
Unicode is for the japs anyway
OK so then maybe scratch the church idea
What's the next plan
Maybe I should rephrase my original question. I'm not looking to make friends where I live, that ain't an issue. I'm trying to figure out how I can determine what other places in this wonderful country might be a better fit than living in a major metro.
Since I don't make use of any of the city specific lifestyle offerings or need much of the conveniences
The lifestyle of having everything accessible all at once is lost on me
Convenience vs mindfulness tradeoffs
It's just really hard to make this kind of shift and not be a dirt bag hipster about it
Which if that's what I'm doing fuck it I'll just have to embrace it
It's possible satellite internet could work
I have a remote job
Ideally something like 60mbps would be my minimum requirement
Then we gotta scratch those off the list
Need to be able to support myself and save this guala for later
I have a chest freezer for meat I'm used to buying beef in bulk
Most veggies you can kiiinda keep in the fridge for a week with the right prep
Time wise an hour each way tops
I have all the prerequisite skills for homeownership but I'd rather not sign up for the debt until I decide I'm really gonna hunker down somewhere
But if it's not an option to rent for a bit then I'll just buy
It's all renting either way
Either from some jerkoff or the bank
Cool than that would be ideal for the short term
So I've done some road trips thru south Carolina and had the sudden urge to just stop in a few towns and just not leave. Loved the sleepy vibes of the trees. Wish I remembered what towns they were but I could probably find them again by visual memory if I take the same route to Charleston.
Eh it's not terribly different from Georgia just a bit more humid
I'll generally take too hot for too cold
Humidity is the main concern tho ๐ค
I guess the trick is to just stay higher elevation?
I love the north Georgia mountains area so I guess I should probably rule that area out first before other considerations right?
Just since it's close and I can do more accurate canvassing?
Yeah flat would be hard I think I might have a phobia of flat tbh
If it's flat but it's bc I'm in a valley and there's mountains in the view that's fine
Thus far my favorite climates have been desert, mountain, and wooded. But I've never lived in desert just traveled thru a lot
My job takes me out to the left coast 4x a year and I road trip the area every time right after
So I guess right now the options are canvas surrounding states via car for small towns, and do weekender trips around the country to small cities?
I guess another alternative would be to rent in a medium city and just own a plot of land within an hour or so drive for peace of mind on the weekends?
I had friends here who did that. They rented here and had a mountain house for dumb cheap
They moved to the mountain house full time but later had to move back to the city bc of ongoing health reasons. Needed to be closer to the hospitals ๐
As of now I don't need any care at all
Is it naive to think I could just move again in that case?
Seems a little getting ahead of myself to predicate my current life decisions on a kid a might have also might have medical. Conditions that need constant inpatient care
Right now my gut means towards medium city with plot of land nearby
That way I can transition in either direction when I have more feedback from life
I just want to be around a higher proportion of people who are present
And all my travels have led me to believe that cities have the lowest proportion
On my last trip I was staying on people's properties from some hipster website where you hand them 20 bucks and they let you sleep there. The farther I went from the city I flew into, the more engaged people's eye contact was
I'm not looking for some utopia
Just better odds
I've also been to plenty of rural areas where it's just opiate country
Well I am at least *some* kinda engineer I guess
Good at building
Objects and relationships
Lmao I feel that brother
Was really just looking to test yall out to see if my mindset and approach is somewhat on the right path
Make sure I don't sound like a kid pining about things that don't exist
Good advice
Find a good lifestyle fit and then just make it work?
Yeah what you workin on rn
I'm a little paralyzed by choice rn with the remote job
Would love to hear your thought process
Being able to move for a partner definitely helps family building
Esp income wise
And if you marry a nurse
Depends on how their shifts are scheduled vs yours. For me it would be great bc i could swap a weekday of work for a weekend day. Lots of nurses work long hours and then have a few days off during the week
Definitely respect the stay and fix it mindset but wouldn't fault you for defecting either
No Valor in sinking with the ship ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Yeah at a certain point ya just gotta fkn send it
Alright so I'm gonna do some research and hard thinking on this one
Might even make me a spreadsheet
Ugh
Saw a guy make a ray tracer with VBA in excel
Now that's a masochist
๐ด
Bruh tulsi got that power stare
No why would I watch snl
