You can definitely practice some politics at home. For instance Fascism is really big on physical and mental fitness, hence excersizing is "practicing" fascism. Likewise, giving to the poor could be considered "practicing" communism.

State and politics can be separated in a technocratic system to some extent by removing ideology and governing purely on an efficient basis.

my point is Religion is pretty natural and as such is not "primitive" and also a sidepoint is that the difference between religion and ideology can sometime become blurred, especially when the two are mixed together.
