Interesting
Surely there's polling from other organisations going the other way though?
If she does and runs on a vote-vagina platform like Hilary I'd chuckle
๐
Has the full text of this "secret deal to sell the NHS" been released anywhere or is it just a prop
It doesn't seem to matter to some people. Response I got was "but their policies are Socialist, what's wrong with socialism"
I may have mentioned some recent examples. When he saw the "overturning capitalism is my job" quote, he looked like he might cry.
This is a chap who used to work for the beeb though.
I think that's broadly true, but someone yesterday told me that was pushing them towards the libdems
Yup. I acknowledged that the UK has Socialist policies and institutions. I just don't think we are or should be a Socialist country.
Fair enough, I'm probably misusing the definition.
I understand the sentiment.
See, that kind of comparison is what I immediately worried about when I heard of Boris wave
I've seen wg threads about "fashwave"
I'm just worried it'll be spun as fascist crap by the other side
I don't think it's true, but I don't think it's out of the question
Hopefully not, it probably isn't a logical connection for anyone normie to make
40 minutes of lo-fi with "can I finish" voice over?
Some of the stuff further down that thread tickles me
Another video of them talking - "this has to be a climate and nature election" (as opposed to a brexit election)
"the government that we elect on dec 12th" - says 15 year old activist
I didn't know voting age was 15 already
They've clearly learned the Greta lesson though, send in the children
"ecoside".. it's eco**c**ide, surely
Ah, but do they want trade and opportunity, or NHS hospitals and benefits payments
I recognise the name but wouldn't know the song by name
Isn't that how the Empire in Elite: Dangerous works
"rate this strike, so that we can provide even better service next time :)"
It could, but sometimes countries/people take risks
They may consider it worth it
Yup, their thinking on that one is just baffling
I'm not sure it even works there, wouldn't a prime example be the Kibbutzim?
The Kibbutz are relevant because they were collectivist-socialist (to one degree or another) small, tightly-knit communities. And eventually all of them abandoned those principles as they ran up against the limitations of that type of living as well as influence from the outside world. I suppose you might just dismiss that as Socialist =/= Communist but whatever.
They were the NSDP weren't they? National Socialist Deutsch Workers Party
@brett0007wastaken of course, but glorious leader just wins all the elections
ah, that's where the 'A' comes from, arbeit for work. I was just wondering how it got to "Nazi"
Definitely sounds like the party was internally divided on the issue
I guess China moving away from Communist/Socialist principles has no bearing on their viability either.
What are you left with after that point though? Everyone goes home and remembers to live in accordance with Communist tenets? No one misbehaves and starts being a secret capitalist?
Because people?
It might, *might* be possible in post-scarcity I guess, if you have matter-replicators powered by Star Trek technology
Yeah I remember that being mentioned in the Starship Troopers video
@xlD4NKlx I would say that the temptation to hoard resources after the "revolution" is going to be very strong. Does a Communist system want a central authority as a general rule, or does it prefer to say that each individual will simply self-police and live in accordance with the ideology? I don't actually know, I've not delved very far into it.
Thanks for the answers, explains why I've seen so many Anarcho-Communists
I didn't mean to imply you were, I've wondered in the past why they held those positions and I assumed they were incompatible, which it sounds like they are when considering Communism as we've seen it so far, but not when only considering theory.
The shit about Plato's forms seems more and more relevant.
About an "ideal form" or "perfect version" of something which exists only in theory. In this case, Communism.
Possibly, you might also need to be very far away from any other towns.
I wonder too how much the regulation of that kind of community owes to everyone believing in a higher power who'll judge them for their misdeeds.
How about something like this: https://academic.oup.com/jmammal/article/87/3/571/899184
```North American desert rodents in the family Heteromyidae live in an unpredictable environment characterized by extremes in temperature and food availability; therefore, *the ability to hoard food is a vital adaptation*.
```
The claim was about "greed" and the hoarding of resources, wasn't it?
@wacka I think you're assuming I've done more than skim the abstract of that paper
At this point it sounds like "there are no complex behaviors in humans"
Ah, I saw that paste and delete but hadn't opened it
I don't think anyone denied that, but it's a trade-off between cooperation and competition
Even with those closest to you
*"However, in all but the simplest transactions, individuals experience a cost now in return for a benefit later and thus are vulnerable to defectors who take the benefit but do not produce the return. Imperfect monitoring or effort and quality also give rise to opportunities for free riding. The potential for conflict over land, food and other resources is everywhere."*
Is it man-crush hour now?
*swordplay*
I thought it was about getting drunk, getting her pregnant, staying together for the kids and divorcing in a massive shitstorm when you can't take it any more
