My luck I'll plug it in and cause a massive blackout in my neighborhood

Stayed up way too late putting it all together. The frame took the longest to build because I wanted to measure out the height of the GPU as it rested in the PCIe riser so they didn't lean at all.

Reason I went with the 1600 is because each GPU requires 220w minimum and I wanted to have a little more wattage available as a buffer for when I overclock the GPUs

They are GTX 1080TIs

Bought the 1080s the day after Christmas.

Entire rig cost was $5114

Not mining yet. I stayed up til midnight getting the frame built and all parts plugged in and situated properly. I still have to install Linux on the SSD and install the wireless adapter. Then I will start benchmarking.

I'm going to benchmark the rig using NiceHash and other miners to see what I can get. I trust whattomine, but I like finding out for myself.

Nicehash has a good benchmarking function that takes about 20 minutes. Very precise. It squeezes as much hashing power as it can from your setup and modifies its config file to mine the most profitable coin at the time, then adjusts accordingly as it mines.

The only thing I will change on my next build is the motherboard. This one is top of the line, but it is designed to support 13 GPUs. I don't need that since I cannot use more than six 1080TIs on one rig due to the required wattage

If I had a bunch of 1060s, I'd probably swap it out and use them on this motherboard since the 1060 uses far less wattage and I could use all 13 gpu ports

Question. I have an extra 1080TI that I do not have a power cord for. It takes a 8 pin and a 6 pin auxiliary. Would it hurt the card to use an 8 pin power cord and an additional 6 pin power cord plugged into the auxiliary, both using separate VGA ports on my power supply?

So a 1080TI card has two power ports. One requires an 8 pin and the other is an auxiliary power port that is also required. See here:

My power supply came with 5 power cords that have a six pin and an eight pin on one end, and the other end plugs into my power supply.

The power supply also came with 3 power cords that have just an 8 pin on the end, no 6 pin.
It also came with 3 power cords that have just a 6 pin on the end, no 8 pin.

So my question is, since I am one cord short, would it damage my card if I used two cords, one 6 pin and one 8 pin, and plugged them both into the card and into my power supply.

I'm 90% confident that it won't damage it by overdrawing power, but I just want to see if anyone has any extra information just in case

Okay everyone. Just got off the phone with NVIDIA support. Turns out that you can indeed connect two separate power cords to a 1080TI in order to power it without damaging your card. Just sharing for future reference.

Found this a few years back while metal detecting on the family farm. We actually found it in an abandoned building buried up about half way and filled with fire utensils (poker, shovel, etc.). None of my family were in WW2 so I have no idea how it ended up on the farm... or even how it got to the U.S.

It's a 8.8cm Flak 18,manufactured by DWM in Berlin in 1938.
