Increasing weight and gaining muscle aren't proportional, fwiw
Eh, not exactly. Muscle hypertrophy = muscle gain
^
Energy = calories
Which is an entirely different topic
It works, but it's not healthy
I sold my car and ride a bike everywhere
And incorporate dynamic/static stretching when I'm not biking
I have rain gear. It's not too bad.
With the right gear, you can bike anywhere and arrive dry
I have three cameras. Two up front, one on the back.
Two knives, pepper spray, and a couple other fun toys
Some drivers are homicidal
As I've learned over the years
I keep a Leatherman and a fixed blade on my belt
I keep them on me for insurance, but I hope I never have to use them
Had to use the pepper spray once unfortunately
Typical
Maybe I'm biased, but I think the US is too lax in how we license people to operate 2-ton metal death machines on public roads
I bet that turned out great
Around 40k people die annually in the US from motor vehicle accidents
(side comment: that's more than deaths than firearms, but no one talks about banning cars ๐คท)
Reminds me of another accident. Searching for the YouTube link now
The upside to riding a bike everywhere means I'm not going fast enough to wipe out in the snow
Also related, /r/idiotsincars
Ask me again why I bike with three cameras ๐
USB battery packs
And none of my regular commutes are longer than an hour
My office is about a half hour/10 miles away
And I can work from home on occasion (like today)
I can't complain.
Yeah, I've had positions all over the IT spectrum
My official title is "automation engineer" these days
Did support years ago, I'm not looking to do it again
More or less. I'm multifaceted.
Not exactly
I write code that automatically performs QA checks on an application
I have years of networking/Linux administration experience on top of that
It pays the bills and isn't too demanding.
There's a couple stereotypical college SJWs that work there, so the days I don't have to go into the office are quite enjoyable.
Haha, good man
Glad someone gets it
The latter

Sexism in the IT field
Feelings > facts
I keep a small camera on my belt and it's come in handy after being pulled into surprise meetings with HR.
I can start it inconspicuously with one hand
Yep. I'm a basket of deplorables.
My shirt covers it so no one really notices its there.
The HR team isn't too bad, but there are state/federal laws they have to follow or risk a lawsuit.
I've learned not to put them in a position of having to reprimand me.
The life of a white male these days.
I ignore their presence as much as I can when I'm in the office.
The girl is worse than the guy
They both turned 21 this year and we're married recently
It's hell, really. Two married SJWs at the same company.
At one point they were both on my team.
I ended up getting a promotion and a $10k raise before I found a better job, so it worked out in the end.
I just keep my mouth shut these days. They'll shoot themselves in the foot eventually.
Nothing major.
The girl had a fit about something completely innocuous posted about something another person posted in slack
I went to bat for him because it was really that ridiculous
They complained to my manager after I referenced The Coddling of the American Mind article.
I'll let that speak for itself.
Not really. My manager understood, but told me not to say anything in the future.
If only for my own protection.
Nah, it wasn't like that
We had been out drinking outside of work before that
Was. She left the company.
She did. I wish she hadn't though. Really good manager.
Anyways, what's the point of thinking critically when feelings > facts
Explains why the SJWs act insane
*listens intently*
Speaking of Canada
Guess who's seeing Jordan Peterson in September
Probably not, no
Just don't post his name directly in discord or any PII
Unspoken rules of internet discourse
Anyways, my lunch break is ending. I might be around later
๐
I was just reading about that protest and Shaun's accusations about the Proud Boys being behind it this morning, thinking there was more to the story.
So happy Tim did a video on it.
I have a love/hate relationship with civ 5
Past that, I read and learn more than I game these days
Khan Academy is an amazing resource
I recently picked up an ebook reader (Kobo) and it's been such a life chabger
Fucking autocorrect
Wtf is a chabger
Anyways
I got a bunch of Kindle books for relatively free years ago and ripped the drm off them, but never got around to reading them
Wow, that's terrible
Reading is freedom
The bigger they are, the harder they fall
Fatties have physics going for them, but a strong right hook to the neck/jaw and down they go
It's like knocking out a beached whale
Yes
