That article is explaining that the errors they found *compared to* the spherical model was small enough that they could approximate the earth is flat without too much of a problem
were* small enough
Theyโre saying they can use that approximation in their experiment. Thatโs kind of the thing physics does. It takes the simplest approximation it can for the problem itโs trying to solve. But that doesnโt mean the approximation is the reality
For example, if youโre trying to bake a cake, you can put in a rough cup of sugar and it doesnโt have to be to exact to get you a cake. If youโre doing a sensitive chemical reaction, youโd need to be more sure about how much you had
Actually research on the graviton is an active field. People donโt know if itโs massive or not or if itโs unnecessary given general relativity, but itโs not neglected
Iโd be happy to answer any questions you had about gravity
Itโs an effect we experience due to the warping of spacetime caused by massive objects!
After a cursory google search (because Iโve never heard of it), it sounds like theyโre arguing that gravity is actually the result of a slight charge differential, and so is actually a coulomb (electric) force. I would definitely disagree with that
Just like doing measurements down to the micrometer wouldnโt be justified for baking a cake. It doesnโt mean that a micrometer measurement wouldnโt be more accurate
Not gravity as it is understood. On a flat, finite-sized surface, there would be force toward the center of the surface as well as โdownโ
Hello! I would be interested to talk about anybodyโs model of the world. (Not trying to troll, just genuinely interested)
Things like do you think weโre in a kind of โsnow globeโ type system or why objects fall. Things like that. Iโm just interested
Iโve asked a few times and get different ideas and explanations or versions, and I just think itโs fun to hear about them
I wasnโt saying they had to be connected, even though I personally believe they are. I was just asking about what people think, if they donโt subscribe to gravity.
Again, Iโm interested in hearing the beliefs of others, but Iโm happy to talk about gravity for a bit if youโd prefer
So what brought you to a flat earth community?
