2020-04-06 02:01:17 UTC

Remember boys compost is great, paper products and food scraps with water and weekly flipping

2020-04-06 02:02:19 UTC

Put your compost pile uphill of your garden as the water run off is good for the garden but bad for the waterways

2020-04-06 02:05:32 UTC

Leaves, yard clippings, small branches (smaller then your thumb) and animal poo (rabbit, birb, dog, cat (not the litter just the poop) horse, chicken) makes great compost. My work has HUGE compost runs and my boss is crazy about it so any questions feel free to ask

2020-04-07 16:58:25 UTC

oh you do like in ground planter boxes

2020-04-07 17:01:42 UTC

One side is in ground, the other is slightly above

2020-04-07 17:02:31 UTC

Gonna try a trickle down system of watering the high end first and let the drainage water the low. Got a plan to get a big 55gal blue barrel for rain water for the garden

2020-04-07 17:03:09 UTC

Gonna hook the barrel to the gutter and spigot the bottom. Run a hose across the yard and turn on for a couple minutes every morning

2020-04-07 17:03:25 UTC

And if i need to I can use the water for home

2020-04-08 00:26:31 UTC

Gotta wait a couple days before I can acquire wood ash. Used to be filled with giant fuckin' weeds. Threw in some half degregated maple leaf litter, then expanded the length another 2'. Final frost date is the 20th so I got a minute to work the soil every day.

2020-04-08 23:04:59 UTC

Can't even work on it because its still too muddy

2020-04-08 23:07:26 UTC

It'll get there boss just do what ya can ๐Ÿ‘

2020-04-08 23:08:43 UTC

Yea add sand and try to salvage what I can. Rain coming next week so hopefully after that I can get in the garden and get it sorted out

2020-04-08 23:09:24 UTC

You got this king

2020-04-08 23:10:02 UTC

2020-04-09 00:09:02 UTC

Mantis ootheca by my raspberries

2020-04-09 00:09:26 UTC

I need berry bushes

2020-04-09 00:10:39 UTC

These were here when I got here and I didn't even notice. They're mine af now so gotta work on staking and protecting them

2020-04-09 00:10:57 UTC

Hell yeah

2020-04-09 00:11:33 UTC

I got big bushes in the back, not sure if they are berries that aint mature or a regular thorn bush

2020-04-09 00:12:01 UTC

I was stoked to see them. My husband was like "they have been here for a while and I was thinking about cutting them down". I love him but I almost stabbed him.

2020-04-09 00:12:27 UTC

Lol oof

2020-04-09 00:13:33 UTC

He's been real cool about moving my plants around the workout room so I guess all it took was gentle education in the form of "but I wanna make jelly"

2020-04-09 00:14:03 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/696356877214416937/697600177351032903/IMG_20200408_115459.jpg

2020-04-09 00:14:57 UTC

Homemade jelly is motivation enough

2020-04-09 00:15:16 UTC

Hells yeah

2020-04-09 00:15:29 UTC

Im out here restarting my garden sprouts. Kids killed alot of them

2020-04-09 00:15:52 UTC

Well that sucks on toast.

2020-04-09 00:16:11 UTC

So im dumping soil and putting them in bags to hang in the window

2020-04-09 00:16:23 UTC

But i got beans for days

2020-04-09 00:16:33 UTC

And okra

2020-04-09 00:16:38 UTC

So I aint starvin

2020-04-09 00:17:24 UTC

Fuck yeah I got okra seeds sent to me. Probably start some here in a couple of weeks so it can get good and toasty out.

2020-04-09 00:18:43 UTC

My buddy in TN has enough okra seeds to last several lifetimes, so if anyone wants any, I can reach out to see if he'd be interested in selling or donating some

2020-04-09 00:25:23 UTC

They are literally the easiest thing to grow. Start them and put them out after frost date and watch them go

2020-04-09 00:25:52 UTC

Yeah frost date here is the 20th

2020-04-09 00:26:41 UTC

I've used the shit out of them learning Cajun cooking but have never grown them personally

2020-04-09 00:46:14 UTC

Got a big storm coming from the north and its gonna get frosty next week

2020-04-09 00:46:54 UTC

Laaaaaaaaaame

2020-04-09 00:47:20 UTC

Lol its cool
Hail
Wind
Rain
Cold temps
Perfect

2020-04-09 00:49:47 UTC

Ngl the hail last night made the soil easy to work with today. I was half expecting the onion leaves in the other plot to be shredded but them lil shits are tough

2020-04-11 16:42:55 UTC

Neighbors apple tree. Needs clipped

2020-04-11 17:02:06 UTC

Its past pruning seasonshouldve done it a month ago

2020-04-11 17:06:03 UTC

Cut all the suckers (anything pointing upwards) cut off anything too tall for you to reach because thats waste of nutrents and any branches that are too long just above a bud. Its a kinda as you feel thing just very important is apart from suckers and the top anything that looks crowded you cut above the bud

2020-04-11 17:09:24 UTC

Once it starts fruiting and they are still hard yoy should go through and thin it out. if you have anything thats closer then a clenched fist away then purge the smaller ones and insure all young fruits are farther then a fist apart. Harvesting should take a while, if they start dropping its about time, leave some you think need more growth and take any bad ones and add to compost

2020-04-11 17:44:15 UTC

Yeah. Well it aint mine but im gonna ask if they will let me prune it still

2020-04-11 18:33:02 UTC

2 sacks of sand and a deep tilling got me back to where i need to be

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/696356877214416937/698601522996707429/JPEG_20200411_143241.jpg

2020-04-11 18:33:27 UTC

Nice

2020-04-11 18:56:50 UTC

I figure I can plant next Friday and be out of the frost danger

2020-04-11 18:57:04 UTC

Gotta start more seeds

2020-04-11 19:23:21 UTC

Careful some states are denying people from buying seeds because gardening is 'non-essential'

2020-04-11 19:39:36 UTC

Yeah I got plenty but my state is still selling non essential items

I just had it gifted to me like that

2020-04-11 20:01:51 UTC

I think it's an oak

2020-04-11 20:17:54 UTC

2020-04-11 20:18:11 UTC

2020-04-11 20:35:40 UTC

2020-04-11 20:43:52 UTC

2020-04-12 05:28:08 UTC

Fuxk I didnt even know this channel existed!

2020-04-12 05:28:13 UTC

Perfect.

2020-04-12 05:28:34 UTC

@Ramrod1992 hey btw if you till it up, hay works as well as sand for that clay

2020-04-12 05:28:40 UTC

Like straw and hay

I know how to make strong as fuck barriers, it uses straw and tall grass in place of rebar, it works

@Deadbeat Radio also, the cememt uses some kinda mud that you gotta mix yourself using kaliche and clay found in the desert

OOOOOOOR, you can just buy bulk cememt, which is super cheap usually
