__**Debunking the Congo "genocide"**__
The main claims for the lies of the Belgium Congo genocide come from the book "King Leopold's Ghost" by a Jewish anti colonial activist. In this he makes the claim that between 1885 and 1908 the Belgium killed around 10 million Congolese out of a population of 20 million.
But this just can't be true because the Congo didn't even have a population of 10 million at that time.

As we can see from this study the estimate for the population of "Loango" was only 8.5 million and "Loango" also includes a lot of non Congolese land, if we only counted the population of the Congo it would be around 7 million.
This is quite a low estimate, some estimate as high as 12 million for the whole Congolese population.
But as we can see from this map Belgium didn't even directly control all of the Congo. A report done by a council created by Italy, Switzerland and Belgium done from 1904 to 1908 to look into accusations against Belgium and they didn't find much genocide.
People like to point to cherry picked images of people with mutilated hands, and while this did happen this report shows that it was mainly done by the black natives, hand mutilation happen in the Congo long before and long after Belgian rule.
