I've been using my front yard as a vegatable garden, There is a big stump from an old palm tree that was here before me, been slowly trying to rot away at it, it's almost there. I'd like to make my front yard nicer though and put rasied beds in the back.

2019-10-29 21:17:13 UTC

obviously social standards are different than they were, to argue that they weren't would be dumb on its face

2019-10-29 21:17:21 UTC

therefore there is only a question of degree and extent

hi

2019-10-29 21:19:26 UTC

thanks for making me

2019-10-29 21:19:29 UTC

it's really worth it

2019-10-29 21:19:30 UTC

Anyway, in my culture, historically, women married at 17, remained with one man throughout their lives, even after his death and the men behaved similarly. People dressed modestly and sexuality was not a topic for discussion. Homosexuality was punishable with chemical castration and even death, pornography was almost entirely prohibited, bestiality and pedophilia were non-existent and I think this is an ideal standard for society

2019-10-29 21:19:35 UTC

i know you were wondering about that

2019-10-29 21:19:35 UTC

i can do most of my work using bash and those three tools

2019-10-29 21:19:41 UTC

Lol exactly

2019-10-29 21:19:45 UTC

except i FUCKING HATE bash

2019-10-29 21:19:50 UTC

should learn python though

2019-10-29 21:19:57 UTC

I dont care that in 1920s USA dumb teenage white women did little jigs and wore short skirts and wanted to sleep with rich Jews for cash

2019-10-29 21:19:57 UTC

the only language where spacing things out causes them to break

2019-10-29 21:20:03 UTC

but ansible is teh thing im learning now

2019-10-29 21:20:08 UTC

This was the norm for 4 centuries in my culture

2019-10-29 21:20:12 UTC

ansible/jinja ?

2019-10-29 21:20:16 UTC

i use that all the time

2019-10-29 21:20:20 UTC

ALL THE TIME

2019-10-29 21:20:21 UTC

dont' use jinja

2019-10-29 21:20:31 UTC

i use jinja so my code writes other code

2019-10-29 21:20:39 UTC

super useful

2019-10-29 21:21:13 UTC

just starting out with ansible, used puppet for a bit, it seems like ansible was made from a sysadmin perspective, im coming into devops from the sysadmin side, so ansible just makes sense really

2019-10-29 21:21:35 UTC

i do love scripting languages because its so easy to get stuff done

2019-10-29 21:21:46 UTC

once you've coded in enough languages you just kinda squint and can read any of them

2019-10-29 21:21:59 UTC

my last job was windows so i learned a TON of powershell, now its mostly python

2019-10-29 21:22:29 UTC

oh, jinja, the .j2 templates

2019-10-29 21:22:57 UTC

@Leaf#3228 I don't think that's true tbh.

2019-10-29 21:23:02 UTC

yeah, i made a powershell script for vmware at my last job, I don't care for it tbqh

I find the MS languages really beautiful.. #NET and powershell are quite stylish

2019-10-29 21:23:43 UTC

I know it's true

2019-10-29 21:23:51 UTC

otherwise your going to have problems

2019-10-29 21:23:54 UTC

always sanitize your inputs with dynamic code

2019-10-29 21:24:03 UTC

Also, a woman not remarrying after being widowed is ridiculous.

2019-10-29 21:24:15 UTC

I know people who have lived through the last two centuries in my country and who know their ancestors going back two further centuries

2019-10-29 21:24:38 UTC

There is no greater honour a woman can show to her mate than making him the sole man in her life, even should she outlive him by decades

2019-10-29 21:24:46 UTC

Gay

2019-10-29 21:24:54 UTC

yeah maybe they are, unforutantely they aren't very portable

2019-10-29 21:25:04 UTC

Says an actual homosexual who makes comments like "I like bussy"

2019-10-29 21:25:08 UTC

It's the duty of a friend to take care of his brother's widow. Also, honor is a spook.

2019-10-29 21:25:28 UTC

Yeah, okay

2019-10-29 21:25:38 UTC

Which one of you guys watches more JFG episodes though

2019-10-29 21:25:45 UTC

Weaboo do you watch daily

2019-10-29 21:26:47 UTC

"If the Chinese controlled the press of half the world, as the Jews do, there would be a cry everywhere of "Frightful Religious persection [sic] in America," because of the bill which has just passed Congress. The only difference is that the Russians have punched some Hebrew heads irregularly, and the heathen Chinee has before now suffered from California mobs; but there is no religious persecution in either case, only the natural instinct of any decent nation to get rid of filthy strangers." --Edward Augustus Freeman

2019-10-29 21:26:54 UTC

Why shouldn't a woman remarry after being widowed?

"muh spooky honor says it bad"

There is zero practical reason for that to be the case. If the woman has children, she's supposed to raise them as a single mother? Because of some bullshit concept of honour?

2019-10-29 21:27:25 UTC

Normally, women would have communities and extended family units to rely on

2019-10-29 21:27:38 UTC

uh, i need to find a new job, resume tiome

2019-10-29 21:27:51 UTC

since theres no afterlife

2019-10-29 21:27:55 UTC

you might as well remarry

2019-10-29 21:27:59 UTC

there's no point in waiting

2019-10-29 21:28:05 UTC

A man raising kids that aren't of his blood is better than a woman raising them alone. Single motherhood is detrimental to children.

Also, if she hasn't had kids? Her womb is to stay barren until she dies? Also ridiculous.

2019-10-29 21:28:27 UTC

If she hasn't had kids then she's allowed to remarry

2019-10-29 21:28:35 UTC

yeah @Deleted User loyalty does you no favors

2019-10-29 21:28:46 UTC

i jumped jobs and now my salary is more than 2x my last job
