Theย Battle of Tannenbergย was fought betweenย Russiaย andย Germanyย between the 26th and 30 August 1914, the first month ofย World War I. The battle resulted in the almost complete destruction of theย Russian Second Armyย and the suicide of its commanding general,ย Alexander Samsonov. A series of follow-up battles (First Masurian Lakes) destroyed most of theย First Armyย as well and kept the Russians off balance until the spring of 1915. The battle is particularly notable for fast rail movements by the Germans, enabling them to concentrate against each of the two Russian armies in turn. Hindenburg was then put in charge of the Army with Lundorff pretty much replacing Willhelm II as the figure heads of the German Empire.

Hathcock only once removed the white feather from his bush hat while deployed in Vietnam. During a volunteer mission days before the end of his first deployment, he crawled over 1,500 yards of field to shoot a PAVN General. He was not informed of the details of the mission until he accepted it. This effort took four days and three nights, without sleep, of constant inch-by-inch crawling. Hathcock said he was almost stepped on as he lay camouflaged with grass and vegetation in a meadow shortly after sunset. At one point he was nearly bitten by a bamboo viper, but had the presence of mind to avoid moving and giving up his position. As the General exited his encampment, Hathcock fired a single shot that struck the General in the chest, killing him.
Hathcock estimated that he had killed between 300 and 400 enemy personnel during his time in the Vietnam War.
In January 1987, a Soviet helicopter reconnaissance unit spotted a group of armed men on three motorcycles. โWhen they saw our choppers they stopped and started shooting at us and fired two missilesโฆ The pilots made a maneuver and lowered the helicoptersโฆ The Mi-24s were covering us from above and we started fighting after leaving the chopper,โ recalled Lieutenant Vladimir Kovtun. He and four other soldiers won the battle against the mujahedeen thanks to the air support. After the skirmish, they searched the enemy and discovered a Stinger and its technical documentation. For years this was believed to be the first time the Soviet came into possession of the missile launcher. In total, Soviet forces managed to capture 8 sets of FIM-92 units in the Afghan conflict.

I would hope they put some sort of coolant or similar in it. The water freezing would probably damage the barrel.
