2019-10-21 15:16:40 UTC

not just authoritarian govts

2019-10-21 15:16:53 UTC

China has for most of it's History not been Democratic or allowed much Liberty

2019-10-21 15:16:58 UTC

Europe has

2019-10-21 15:17:00 UTC

hence why it's worse than the EU

2019-10-21 15:17:22 UTC

Little Democracy is better than NO Democracy

2019-10-21 15:17:25 UTC

OOF

2019-10-21 15:17:42 UTC

They are maintaining a culture of Authoritarianism, The EU is changing a culture of Liberty and Democracy into one of Authoritarianism

2019-10-21 15:17:47 UTC

<:WaitWhatArmy:590858815189024778>

2019-10-21 15:18:01 UTC

it's not entirely cultural

2019-10-21 15:18:05 UTC

it's also a govt thing, too

2019-10-21 15:18:08 UTC

No

2019-10-21 15:18:16 UTC

>denying the PRC is authoritarian

2019-10-21 15:18:20 UTC

nice going, PRC shill

2019-10-21 15:18:27 UTC

But Authoritarianism is much more prevalent in China

2019-10-21 15:18:38 UTC

Yes, there's no denying that

2019-10-21 15:18:42 UTC

that's why the EU is better

2019-10-21 15:18:43 UTC

It's not completely down to culture

2019-10-21 15:18:51 UTC

But a large part of it is

2019-10-21 15:19:05 UTC

It's also a religious thing

2019-10-21 15:19:08 UTC

shockingly enough

2019-10-21 15:19:19 UTC

but Confucianism and Taoism have ingrained themselves on the Chinese psyche

2019-10-21 15:19:25 UTC

The EU is attempting to change Europe from a Democratic continent into an Authoritarian one, Hence it is worse

2019-10-21 15:19:35 UTC

ermmm

2019-10-21 15:19:41 UTC

it's still Democratic, to an extent

2019-10-21 15:19:51 UTC

long-term it might be AS BAD as China

2019-10-21 15:19:52 UTC

PRC is maintaining a culture, The EU is changing one

2019-10-21 15:19:55 UTC

but short-term, it's better

2019-10-21 15:20:04 UTC

@The Electric Lizard It's not a homogenous culture

2019-10-21 15:20:07 UTC

europe till like the 1940s was under authoritarian regimes

2019-10-21 15:20:11 UTC

China is really fucking diverse, hilariously enough

2019-10-21 15:20:14 UTC

its in our culture bois

2019-10-21 15:20:16 UTC

I am talking generally

2019-10-21 15:20:26 UTC

Culture in the abstract

2019-10-21 15:20:41 UTC

Generally speaking Europe supports Democracy and Liberty whereas China is Authoritarian

2019-10-21 15:20:49 UTC

"generally speaking"

2019-10-21 15:20:54 UTC

for most of it's history it wasn't Democratic

2019-10-21 15:21:00 UTC

europe was authoritarian till 1940s

2019-10-21 15:21:06 UTC

China still is

2019-10-21 15:21:10 UTC

means that change is possible

2019-10-21 15:21:13 UTC

for everyone

2019-10-21 15:21:16 UTC

We haven't been for quite a while

2019-10-21 15:22:33 UTC

And?

2019-10-21 15:22:39 UTC

for the moment, the EU is Democratic

2019-10-21 15:22:46 UTC

for the foreseeable future it is

2019-10-21 15:23:02 UTC

nah man eu is hitler man

2019-10-21 15:23:11 UTC

china is stalin man

2019-10-21 15:23:14 UTC

stalin is good

2019-10-21 15:23:20 UTC

England is the only country with a significant democratic legacy

2019-10-21 15:23:46 UTC

The rest of Europe was authoritarian until very recent history

2019-10-21 15:24:37 UTC

My fundamental point here is, Europe is being changed from a Democratic place into an Authoritarian one whereas China is is traditionally Authoritarian and the PRC is simply maintaining this, For that reason i believe the EU is worse for actively trying to change Europe

2019-10-21 15:25:32 UTC

```Europe is being changed from a Democratic place into an Authoritarian```
<:WaitWhatArmy:590858815189024778>
2019-10-21 15:25:39 UTC
Europe was authoritarian for thousands of years and changed to democracy in the last ~70 years
2019-10-21 15:25:50 UTC
what do you mean traditionally
2019-10-21 15:26:16 UTC
in that case europe was traditionally authoritarian too
2019-10-21 15:26:17 UTC
The EU is becoming increasingly Authoritarian
2019-10-21 15:26:28 UTC
AFAIK, Authoritarianism in China only came about around the time of Taoism and Confucianism
2019-10-21 15:26:36 UTC
Europe has been Democratic for around the last 60 years
2019-10-21 15:26:44 UTC
I mean I have no problem with the EU once Britain is out of it
2019-10-21 15:26:46 UTC
Even the Eastern Block has been Democratic for quite a while
2019-10-21 15:27:00 UTC
China has not been Democratic for around a hundred years or so and since Sun Yat Sen died
2019-10-21 15:27:21 UTC
"traditionally"
2019-10-21 15:30:17 UTC
@SPOOKY Phil, Ruler of Heck China has been Authoritarian for a very long time, You can go back as far as the Qing Dynasty and further, Parts of Europe have been Democratic for a long time and practically the entirety of Europe has been Democratic for around the last 60 years or so
2019-10-21 15:30:28 UTC
@The Electric Lizard Parts of Europe like WHAT?
2019-10-21 15:30:35 UTC
UK
2019-10-21 15:30:36 UTC
At that point, Europe was HEAVILY authoritarian
2019-10-21 15:30:38 UTC
France
2019-10-21 15:30:40 UTC
save for the UK, and maybe France
2019-10-21 15:30:48 UTC
and even so
2019-10-21 15:30:53 UTC
more authoritarian than nowadays
2019-10-21 15:31:05 UTC
Czechoslovakia was Democratic if i remember correctly
2019-10-21 15:31:09 UTC
<:thunk:462282216467333140>
2019-10-21 15:31:14 UTC
2019-10-21 15:31:21 UTC
1900's
2019-10-21 15:31:36 UTC
so you're talking about the Qing's final days?
2019-10-21 15:31:45 UTC
or the high point of the Qing?
2019-10-21 15:31:51 UTC
Both
2019-10-21 15:32:03 UTC
they weren't in the same century
2019-10-21 15:32:13 UTC
I am referencing the time period in which China has not been Democratic
2019-10-21 15:32:15 UTC
the High Point of the Qing was the 18th or 19th centuries IIRC
2019-10-21 15:32:31 UTC
they still got yeeted a bunch
2019-10-21 15:32:35 UTC
And comparing it to how long parts of Europe have been Democratic
2019-10-21 15:32:56 UTC
Not one specific time period
2019-10-21 15:32:58 UTC
now its parts of europe instead of europe
2019-10-21 15:33:02 UTC
I am speaking about it overall
2019-10-21 15:33:04 UTC
<:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898> <:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>
2019-10-21 15:33:23 UTC
2019-10-21 15:33:27 UTC
anyways
2019-10-21 15:33:34 UTC
EU is better than the PRC
2019-10-21 15:33:35 UTC
2019-10-21 15:33:38 UTC
Following WW2 it became around half of Europe
2019-10-21 15:33:39 UTC
yes it is
2019-10-21 15:33:47 UTC
I'm gonna fucking tell him
2019-10-21 15:33:51 UTC
At the end of the Cold War it became most of Europe
2019-10-21 15:33:53 UTC
>Europe goes from authoritarianism to totalitarianism to democracy
>China goes from authoritarianism to totalitarianism
>China is a million times better than the EU
