Europe was authoritarian for thousands of years and changed to democracy in the last ~70 years
what do you mean traditionally
in that case europe was traditionally authoritarian too
The EU is becoming increasingly Authoritarian
AFAIK, Authoritarianism in China only came about around the time of Taoism and Confucianism
Europe has been Democratic for around the last 60 years
I mean I have no problem with the EU once Britain is out of it
Even the Eastern Block has been Democratic for quite a while
China has not been Democratic for around a hundred years or so and since Sun Yat Sen died
"traditionally"
@SPOOKY Phil, Ruler of Heck China has been Authoritarian for a very long time, You can go back as far as the Qing Dynasty and further, Parts of Europe have been Democratic for a long time and practically the entirety of Europe has been Democratic for around the last 60 years or so
@The Electric Lizard Parts of Europe like WHAT?
UK
At that point, Europe was HEAVILY authoritarian
France
save for the UK, and maybe France
and even so
more authoritarian than nowadays
Czechoslovakia was Democratic if i remember correctly
<:thunk:462282216467333140>
in the 1800s?
>traditionally goys
1900's
so you're talking about the Qing's final days?
or the high point of the Qing?
Both
they weren't in the same century
I am referencing the time period in which China has not been Democratic
the High Point of the Qing was the 18th or 19th centuries IIRC
they still got yeeted a bunch
And comparing it to how long parts of Europe have been Democratic
Not one specific time period
now its parts of europe instead of europe
I am speaking about it overall
