2019-11-04 07:52:22 UTC

well

2019-11-04 07:52:25 UTC

why are you going bronze age

2019-11-04 07:52:29 UTC

Generally civil warโ€™s are much different now

if a refugee caravan divided the english channel in half like that jewish guy did that one time i'd give them some credit

2019-11-04 07:52:36 UTC

Refugees

2019-11-04 07:52:44 UTC

post 1945, they've been the same

2019-11-04 07:52:45 UTC

Mass bombing causes more destruction for locals than ever before

2019-11-04 07:52:52 UTC

usually mass bombing

2019-11-04 07:52:54 UTC

sure

2019-11-04 07:52:57 UTC

Warfare itself is different

2019-11-04 07:53:05 UTC

exile, mass graves ,etc.

2019-11-04 07:53:08 UTC

People who say war never changes are idiots tbh

2019-11-04 07:53:11 UTC

And simply put more things used by civilians are targeted

2019-11-04 07:53:14 UTC

War has changed a lot

2019-11-04 07:53:23 UTC

but there was never millions of refugees pouring across europe

2019-11-04 07:53:28 UTC

or getting into US

2019-11-04 07:53:33 UTC

WW2 there was though

2019-11-04 07:53:34 UTC

And people actually quote it

2019-11-04 07:53:35 UTC

despite mass graves

2019-11-04 07:53:38 UTC

so wtf

2019-11-04 07:53:40 UTC

But thatโ€™s a huge war

2019-11-04 07:53:45 UTC

thats y marie civil wars are rare in developed countries not it causes too much destruction to be worth it

2019-11-04 07:54:00 UTC

Tbh 1945-2019 is a short time

2019-11-04 07:54:03 UTC

yeah WW2, every country was at war and I guess people could hop borders

2019-11-04 07:54:20 UTC

1945-2019 has to be one of the most peaceful times in history

2019-11-04 07:54:28 UTC

Iโ€™d say even 1919-2019

2019-11-04 07:54:35 UTC

well 1945-2019 is long if you consider modern policy and how we managed to deal with other nations having civil wars in the past

2019-11-04 07:54:46 UTC

usually i think it was the policy of 'the adjacent country takes in the refugees'

2019-11-04 07:54:51 UTC

Not the longest duration of relative peace between great powers but still heckin long

2019-11-04 07:54:54 UTC

not really

2019-11-04 07:54:56 UTC

and that has worked I believe, though usually an adjacent country suffers

2019-11-04 07:55:00 UTC

pax romana was most peaceful time

2019-11-04 07:55:06 UTC

gives them incentives to take interest in peace keeping of their neighbour

2019-11-04 07:55:06 UTC

The past hundred years have been some of the most peaceful ever even if the largest war in history occurred

2019-11-04 07:55:09 UTC

it was a good policy

2019-11-04 07:55:13 UTC

even if it doesn't prevent war

2019-11-04 07:55:20 UTC

it prevents frigging refugee spill overs

2019-11-04 07:55:25 UTC

Pax Romana did last longer but with smaller geographical influence.

2019-11-04 07:55:33 UTC

which are now happening for no reason, I don't know why we abandoned the old policy

2019-11-04 07:55:39 UTC

I think NGOs started it

2019-11-04 07:55:42 UTC

Pax Romana wasnโ€™t as globally peaceful

2019-11-04 07:55:50 UTC

HERE I GO

2019-11-04 07:55:53 UTC

GLORYPOSTING AGAIN

2019-11-04 07:56:07 UTC

it wasnt globally peaceful but its not global peace now either

2019-11-04 07:56:15 UTC

1815-1914 was also pretty peaceful relatively speaking to the Great Powers

2019-11-04 07:56:42 UTC

No there's not global peace now but there's more global peace than during Pax Romana

2019-11-04 07:56:44 UTC

But overall globally this must be the most peaceful hundred years

2019-11-04 07:56:52 UTC

It just hasn't lasted as long

2019-11-04 07:56:56 UTC

And probably won't

also less poverty for sure

2019-11-04 07:57:12 UTC

it sure is more peaceful than colonial times

2019-11-04 07:57:12 UTC

read both Better Angels of Our Nature

2019-11-04 07:57:17 UTC

and Enlightenment Now

2019-11-04 07:57:21 UTC

I donโ€™t think there will ever be a war the size of WW2 again

peace =/= no one starved

2019-11-04 07:57:27 UTC

Pinker has statistics to support claims of greater peace

2019-11-04 07:57:32 UTC

@Tato most peaceful ever

2019-11-04 07:57:33 UTC

The larger a geographic area you try to maintain peace over the less likely it'll work for longer I imagine

@lunemarie and thats why a bigger one will happen

2019-11-04 07:57:43 UTC

he doesn't question why there's a refugee crisis though, which I thought was stupid

2019-11-04 07:57:43 UTC

heheheheheheheheh

2019-11-04 07:57:48 UTC

@King Canuck This is acceptable.

Also, the show they are gonna be at just got sold out <:GWmythiFeelsBadMan:391321619748093972>

2019-11-04 07:57:54 UTC

brutal

2019-11-04 07:58:04 UTC

someone in a group I'm in made a joke about doing this exact editing so I went and done it

2019-11-04 07:58:06 UTC

Peaceful? What about the great meme war of 2016?

2019-11-04 07:58:09 UTC

Whatโ€™s why a bigger one will happen? A tiny girl says not?

2019-11-04 07:58:10 UTC

debatable but yes probably too many world powers and too big interest

to think 'we are way above what we once were' is exactly how you get a big problem

2019-11-04 07:58:43 UTC

I never said that though

2019-11-04 07:58:44 UTC

yeah we haven't changed

you say we cant top ourselves with ww2

very easily we can

2019-11-04 07:59:01 UTC

I think we lack incentives to war

2019-11-04 07:59:06 UTC

yeah nuclear war could happen

ww1 didnt seem like we could beat it, and we did

2019-11-04 07:59:09 UTC

No I said I donโ€™t think it will happen

2019-11-04 07:59:12 UTC

To be fair, mass migration has been happening for decades.

What we are calling the refugee crisis is a piggy-back migration using the chaos of the Syrian war and it's displaced peoples to relocate to Europe.

Few of these "refugees" are refugees.

2019-11-04 07:59:20 UTC

Not that we couldnโ€™t beat it, just that we wonโ€™t

2019-11-04 07:59:21 UTC

https://youtu.be/Sk3cgyBGg7I here, have my most cursed edit

2019-11-04 07:59:21 UTC

but a lot of coulds could happen

mass food shortages? technology that destroys lives of some people and not others?

2019-11-04 07:59:35 UTC

there wont be war like ww2 with clearly established sides but there will be lots of civil unrests in future

2019-11-04 07:59:35 UTC

If we wanted to we could probably kill at least half the global population in a war

ww2 didnt just happen out of nowhere

it had a reason

and those reasons are always possibilities

2019-11-04 07:59:49 UTC

Nukes are the reason why we won't see a war between large powers

and theyre always slow slopes

2019-11-04 07:59:55 UTC

there will always be civil unrest somewhere

2019-11-04 08:00:04 UTC

If we have a nuclear war I think the nation-state might be obsolete

2019-11-04 08:00:05 UTC

i mean

2019-11-04 08:00:06 UTC

China vs. US is probably the new cold war

2019-11-04 08:00:09 UTC

City states!

to think 'we wont have a bigger war' is jumping way ahead

2019-11-04 08:00:24 UTC

Itโ€™s not though

it is

2019-11-04 08:00:30 UTC

trade war and psych war probably for forseeable future
