@Abe Lover if there's water in the houses the pipes are still working, just follow the line out of town, and bust it open, if theres a venomous snake that means there's a clear decent amount of small rodents or insects for it to eat, both of which can be harvested and cooked nicely, also if it were in my village it wouldn't be a problem since I love in the UK so nothing really lethal lives here and it's a farming village so yeah
