2018-03-05 02:37:04 UTC

and this is how we get to "biological sex is a social construct"

2018-03-05 02:37:10 UTC

if gender becomes volatile and not useful it will be because people are using it for that purpose

2018-03-05 02:37:22 UTC

meaning its not useless

2018-03-05 02:37:48 UTC

if enough SJW use racism as "prejudice+power" should we assume the definition changed too?

2018-03-05 02:38:13 UTC

they will change it against your will if you let them

2018-03-05 02:38:22 UTC

@.B good news, they now have a name for prejudice against people of the same power level, its apparently called colorism

2018-03-05 02:38:28 UTC

ik

2018-03-05 02:38:30 UTC

xD

2018-03-05 02:38:47 UTC

and colorism is exactly what the initial racism was

2018-03-05 02:38:50 UTC

which is ironic

2018-03-05 02:38:56 UTC

which is why i think its best just to just give gender a better definition or no definition at all

2018-03-05 02:39:01 UTC

and invalidates their redifinition of racism

2018-03-05 02:39:12 UTC

gotta love when they finally realized there are black people who are racist against black people, and had to make a new word because they were like "oh yeah... this is a thing"

2018-03-05 02:39:17 UTC

or, you say gender = sex

2018-03-05 02:39:21 UTC

and it's done

2018-03-05 02:39:30 UTC

so does that mean black on black crime is now colorism?

2018-03-05 02:39:32 UTC

wont hold up in the long run

2018-03-05 02:39:54 UTC

it holded up until today

2018-03-05 02:39:54 UTC

gender doesent mean sex, because boats have a gender but not a sex

2018-03-05 02:40:04 UTC

what

2018-03-05 02:40:06 UTC

boats?

2018-03-05 02:40:10 UTC

boats are female

2018-03-05 02:40:14 UTC

wut?

2018-03-05 02:40:22 UTC

that is personification

2018-03-05 02:40:24 UTC

most things in the spanish language have genders

2018-03-05 02:40:28 UTC

so?

2018-03-05 02:40:30 UTC

ahh

2018-03-05 02:40:53 UTC

not all languages have gendered nouns

2018-03-05 02:40:59 UTC

@Arch-Fiend but if gender =/= sex, then a boat does not have a gender, it has a sex

2018-03-05 02:41:16 UTC

gender doesent equel sex

2018-03-05 02:41:21 UTC

the boat has no sexual characteristics, sorry

2018-03-05 02:41:26 UTC

because there is only male gender, female gender, and neutral gendered words in languages

2018-03-05 02:41:31 UTC

you can't have it both ways

2018-03-05 02:41:42 UTC

thats because gender doesent discribe sexual characteristics

2018-03-05 02:41:45 UTC

so gender could only be binary if that is the point you tried to make

2018-03-05 02:41:52 UTC

well no physical ones

2018-03-05 02:42:09 UTC

gender only defines social and psychological sexual characteristics

2018-03-05 02:42:18 UTC

which would mean it defines nothing

2018-03-05 02:42:24 UTC

boats don't have any

2018-03-05 02:42:29 UTC

which is why i dont like the word

2018-03-05 02:42:44 UTC

boats are called she

2018-03-05 02:42:49 UTC

do something about it

2018-03-05 02:43:22 UTC

btw, afaik boat is male in spanish

2018-03-05 02:43:25 UTC

barco

2018-03-05 02:43:36 UTC

thats fine, now its male

2018-03-05 02:43:39 UTC

or bote

2018-03-05 02:43:48 UTC

la lancha is female

2018-03-05 02:44:06 UTC

doesent make gender any more useful a way to define sex

2018-03-05 02:44:17 UTC

now that inanimate objects have genders

2018-03-05 02:44:20 UTC

you basically destroyed your own argument though, genders in languages are binary

2018-03-05 02:44:38 UTC

i never said genders wernt binary

2018-03-05 02:44:42 UTC

there's male, female and neutral

2018-03-05 02:44:43 UTC

i said i dont care about them

2018-03-05 02:45:11 UTC

and that it doesent define sex

2018-03-05 02:45:13 UTC

you were arguing "gender =/= sex"

2018-03-05 02:45:38 UTC

sex doesent define bianary, sex that we know of has a bianary

2018-03-05 02:46:39 UTC

you lost me, idk what you meant

2018-03-05 02:47:14 UTC

what you said before the last thing i said only makes sense with the thing you said before that if your defining bianary as sex

2018-03-05 02:47:30 UTC

language has masculine, feminine, and neutral. If you want to call that arbitrary distinctions gender, then fine. But that is a random ass thing to call gender

2018-03-05 02:48:10 UTC

also probably not appropriate because i believe it already has a name

2018-03-05 02:49:07 UTC

continuing with this thread of discussion.. so should languages invent 35 new ways to gender nouns?

2018-03-05 02:49:10 UTC

oh, it already has a name, grammatical gender, so i guess you can just call that gender

2018-03-05 02:49:19 UTC

well, sjw's would like that

2018-03-05 02:49:29 UTC

and good fucking luck to them, i'd like to see them try it

2018-03-05 02:49:31 UTC

would be amusing to see them try

2018-03-05 02:49:35 UTC

i havent called any arbitrary disstinction gender, at first i started with gender not existing, then i moved forward with the idea that if you want gender to exist then gender must define something different than sex because things without sex have gender, if you created a definition that made sense in that context for gender then gender would be social and psychological sexual characteristics

2018-03-05 02:50:04 UTC

gender always existed as another synonim to sex

2018-03-05 02:50:09 UTC

we didn't agree on that?

2018-03-05 02:50:17 UTC

gender = sex, just as there are many other words that mean the same as other words

2018-03-05 02:50:28 UTC

its a piss poor definition for sex if it doesent actually work as a definition for sex

2018-03-05 02:50:33 UTC

you can take any existing thing that says gender and you could replace it with sex

2018-03-05 02:50:41 UTC

as that is how it was used

2018-03-05 02:50:46 UTC

you cant say "this word means this word but only sometimes"

2018-03-05 02:51:00 UTC

you can say those applications of the word sex seem silly or random, and i would agree

2018-03-05 02:51:06 UTC

that doesn't change the fact that is how it was used

2018-03-05 02:51:15 UTC

Besides, why not?

2018-03-05 02:51:56 UTC

there is no "but only sometimes"

2018-03-05 02:52:12 UTC

what sex is a boat?

2018-03-05 02:52:20 UTC

any application of sex and gender is/was interchangeable

2018-03-05 02:52:21 UTC

yes

2018-03-05 02:52:26 UTC

boat is an it

2018-03-05 02:52:31 UTC

boat is a she, a female pronoun

2018-03-05 02:52:36 UTC

please show me the dick or boobs on a boat

2018-03-05 02:52:38 UTC

not in all languages

2018-03-05 02:52:55 UTC

how do boats fuck?

2018-03-05 02:52:55 UTC

feminine article

2018-03-05 02:53:03 UTC

show me what about the boat makes it feminine?

2018-03-05 02:53:08 UTC

rule34 applies

2018-03-05 02:53:21 UTC

you'd have ask the people who made up language

2018-03-05 02:53:39 UTC

not a god damn thing about a boat makes it feminine, its almost like gender isint the same god damn thing as sex

2018-03-05 02:54:20 UTC

if you want a guess on boat in particular, it was because the sailors on it build the same kind of connection with it as they did with their wives, so the boat became a sort of replacement for the females of their lives, given that it used to be all men and nothing but the men.

2018-03-05 02:54:21 UTC

the moment sex discribed sexual characteristics or an action sex no longer means gender

2018-03-05 02:54:27 UTC

they personified the boat
