@pratel 4rth grade.
I thought this was a serious proposal.
Yes it's serious
It's completely serious
Are you certain, dear
Yes
Their not going to actually change the law though.
thats a little heavy for 4th grade tho
@pratel
*they're
I mean, when I was in 4th grade we discussed whether it made sense...
I hope one day you can live down this great dishonor.
Make it heavy, and encourage kids to think the "right way"
I was going to say something about declaring war in Vietnam
but now I'm just going to say dragging the grammar nazis through the mud @Scribblehatch
๐
Dude this is serious proposal
It's not just this newspaper
How the fuck can india be this backward
You mean, they're talking about repealing an anti-lynching law?
You can just go out and hang whomever you like
Multiple newspapers, like The Hindu, and Indian express
That's...
kinda messed up.
Have you ever noticed, that the cultures are rather crazy wherever it's Too Hot or Too Cold?
I'm serious.
@pratel WHY DO YOU NEED ONE
What's the rationale, redundant?
WHEN YOU ARE LYNCHING PEOPLE
YOU ARE MURDERING THEM
Right, I guess I'm just trying to figure out what the argument is supposed to be.
Like, lynching is bad, but you wouldn't propose something like this out of thin air.
I think heating/cooling systems are going to gradually bring peace to the entire world. And again, I'm completely serious. Think of any location on earth where shit has gone completely off the rails, and then ask yourself "Is it very hot/cold there..?"
Its just a response to a controversial topic
Should you introduce legislation to stop that topic
Like come on man
It's too hot in India, right?
Sweltering?
They're implying that lynching is completely fine
That's fucked
ok so clarify this for us non subcontinet dwellers shiv
Is there a law against lynching in india currently?
@Blackhawk342 Yes, there are murder laws
Who could have known
So wouldn't that cover lynching? lol
You don't need a law against immolation, because murder is already illegal.
EXACTLY
ITS SO STUPID
"Yeah but what about burning someone to death."
"--That's murder, m'boy."
It's like saying "let's make a law against stabbing people"
Like, come on
Nah nah nah.
Just do cool backflips.
And stick potatoes on their knives.
๐
But you know what was stupider
The context
Basically, a bunch of villagers found people giving away candy
And they spread rumours those guys were child molesters,
Oh christ.
So the villagers did the natural thing
That happened right?
I hate moral panic.
And killed them
They lynched some people from the police stations
I mean the people held in them
Yeah that too
It's so stupid man
I hate mainstream media
Oh. Yeah, that's bad.
So they're considering a lynching law I guess?
Yea, the supreme court recommended to the parliament to make anti lynching laws
Though they would be redundant
I can see the debate.
Probably because in murder, there is that one perpetuator
Ah so it would be like hate crime laws in the US
But in a lynching, theres a crowd
adding extra penalties to the crime comitted
at least thats what i assume it would be like
Which was kinda silly. A crime is a crime no matter the intent
Why does intent factor into the punishment?
Y'know what I think could solve the false rape claim problem?
@Blackhawk342 we have those too
@GingaBomber because in English Common Law intent is everything.
Murder must be premeditated for example.
The question is what is being done about the current lynchings? Are they not being prosecuted for a reason that making specific laws would change?
Premediated, but why?
@Schedrevka nope
I want to murder this guy for wht reason
Annoying voice!
I knw the difference between sudden urge, and actually planning it beforehand
Like in Hot Fuzz.
@GingaBomberto determine the degree
1st degree murder is premeditated murder
@GingaBomber It distinguishes between killing someone because you lost control of your car (accidental manslaughter) and intentionally chasing them down and killing them.
The latter is considered worse.
2nd degree is stuff like driving through people
If there were no hate crime laws all you'd need to do after killing someone is say "because I hate his race" and they'd have to let you go free, right
Or shooting someone by mistake
lol
It depends upon the state shiv
